Default Alaska pilots contract goes to MEC for approv

I saw the Alaska pilots and ALPA and AAG have reached a tentative agreement. Any early info?
Best wishes to Alaska pilots.

Don't know too much, other than I got the email. They say it protects the four "cornerstones" and that it includes a signing bonus rather than retro pay. I'm curious if this is a way to pay only people actively on the payroll and not retirees and furloughed guys. Hopefully more details will be forthcoming this week...

Details will come out in 2-3 weeks. I'm not holding my breath on this one. I think the first incarnation of this TA will get voted down.

- There's no retro pay. It's a "signing bonus". That's not going to go over very well with most of the pilots.
- Rumor has it that the 4 year contract will not go back to May 1, 2007, which was the amendable date.

You guys gave management a (forced) no-interest loan. Why in the world would it be ok to accept a signing bonus instead of retro pay???

Retro pay from amendable date seems like a reasonable expectation.

Hey, I'm with you, I just hope the furloughed folks don't get left out in the cold by any "signing bonus" language...

Amendable date with retro pay should be the first expectation I'd think...

Email said only that they'd reached an "agreement in principle" and the language was being hammered out over the next couple of weeks...

7576FO;
We don't have a TA yet; just a pebble of "verbal" hope.

EWRflyer;
We haven't given management anything yet;
We don't have a TA, our MEC has to fine tune the language before they present to the pilot group, and we still have to vote.

No offense, just keeping the facts straight !

The reason RETRO was not in the contract is the union does not want to reward those who work overtime. If you pay retro, you are rewarding those VSA and max line dbags and penalizing the guys who were dropping down to min in an attempt to bring guys back from furlough. Signing bonus is fine with me.

Call it a sack of money. Who cares. If the amount is acceptable, that's what is important. The money comes from the company. The company owes us. Problem solved.

There won't be any detailed info for another 2-3 weeks.
