I am glad you struck in 85 Joe and was impressed that you did. That being said what did it accomplish? Many of the brown suitors were crossing and that put an end to the strike. The "570" were sent to court, you had the same b-scale that was originally offered to you, you voted people that crossed the picket line back into the union, the union constanly changed the rules during the strike, yes like you will be a scab if you agree to work, then if you go to training then if you turn a wheel. It was a mess and was not very effective. Sorry I didn't mean you personnally Joe doing all this but it was not as effective as people think and imo would be less so in todays invironment. JMO

ummmmm, Lee, you might want to re-read my post. That's exactly what I said. The 70 hour floor is a good thing. The Cap reduction is good... I wish it were 83 across the board. Not sure what you thought I said, but you and I feel the same way. Not surprised as we both did schedule work. It's usually the guys who haven't (or are just greedy) who don't
A 30 hour build window has created many of the problems that PBS causes in QOL. Narrowing the window will help quite a bit in my opinion but the devil is in the details. That and a calendar day off in domicile will at least prevent some abuses by the company. I'm sure the TA has many more issues that are negative but those 2 help. Bottom line until true rigs return QOL will still not be where it shoud be. As I told many folks that where happy when the LCO provisions went away I can show you how to build a "legal" schedule that sucks...company demonstrated it over Christmas this year.

Oops, reread your post. We are of similar opinion.

The 30 hour layovers in YYC and SJC helped the legalities.

TOTALLY agree. The company can, and does, build lines that BLOW with the rules they have now. Where I differ from most pilots at UAL (I think) is I'm a believer that we don't have to get a Hail Mary to be successful. Can the company still build crappy lines after the LCO provisions went away? Clearly. Is life better for us now than it was then? Yes. So let's take what we can get when we can get it and then turn right back around and hold out our hand for more. That's what the company did so successfully against us... took our lives away piece by piece. Outside of Section 6, if there is a TA that comes along with marginal improvements, I say let's take it and then work on the next improvements. Clearly this isn't a panacea, but it IS an improvement over what we have now.

Agreed! This is a MAJOR improvement for the pilots especially getting TRIP TRADING back. HOWEVER, there are some reps out there (I hear SFO, DCA, and LAX) who want to shoot this down. They need to hear from you LOUD and CLEAR that enough is enough and all their "chest beating" of the last two years has gotten us NOTHING but a gag order from a Federal judge. It's time to TAKE what we can get, put it our pocket and send the negotiating committee back for more. If they turn this down, trip trading is DEAD until Section 6 is completed. Want to live your commuting life for another three or four years with ZERO flexibility? LAX, SFO, and DCA need to hear loud and clear that LIFESTYLE AND QoL ARE IMPORTANT.
This is just more of the same old crap from these clowns.

Wish you guys luck. Saw a UA 319 on the ramp here at PUB for a few days. Came in on a divert for DEN due to wx and I guess a mx issue.
As to the TA, I don't really have a horse in the race. Hope the pros outweigh the cons.
How's the commute to ORD going?

I'm on the outside, but my lovely line for Dec had Christmas off (yeah, I'm that senior but volunteered to leave) however the preceeding 8 days and following 8 days were basically working (legal min turns in domicile and lovely layovers for the 7 day issue.....

Also, don't know the status, but if they are finally using Carmen (or some other program) the ability to massage the ID build on a monthly basis is bad news. "Bright ideas" at CM used to take months to institute before with Aflyer/Acruizer......now, with a keystroke in PBS and Carmen, they can legally (CBA/FAR) continue to come up with new and improved ways to destroy your QOL.
Without some type of synthetic penalty (i.e. RIGS) on the company for poor QOL scheduling practices, there must at least be something in the Section 6 that gets the SSC some say in the parameters the company can build with.
Good luck,
Lee

Hope all's well, Lee. I'm just tired of the entire pilot group getting continually SCREWED by a small group of idiots on our MEC - and it's been going on for far too long!
Best to you!

Well, not doing it yet as they canceled my school, but did a month of TDY and it was OK.

Sorry you are having to deal with that at this point in your career. I can feel your pain and it is the very reason I decided to drop out of the UA grid for awhile at least. Length yet to be determined.
Section 6 should be interesting to say the least. I'll be watching from the sidelines.
On another note, I signed up for the UApilots.com • Index page website. Don't know who is doing it, but I'm keeping my posts very casual. Probably Attr*(&ian or someone like that. It is FN and DOH verified so at least it's in house by someone.
Frats and hope the wx is fine in SEA.
