From the alpa email:
ALPA Email Part 1 of 1:
ALPA recently (Sunday afternoon) became aware of a possible Scope problem as it relates to Shuttle America and increasing the gross weights of their EMB-175s to 89,000 pounds. A memo was posted on the forum which purportedly came from a manager at Republic Holdings talking about increasing the MTOW of the 175’s. Section 1 B. 40. D. of the JCBA limits Maximum Takeoff Weight for permitted aircraft to 86,000 pounds, with the exception of up to 36 Compass EMB-175 aircraft which can be operated to an 89,000 pound limit. If Shuttle America were to increase the Maximum Takeoff Weight of the aircraft operating in Delta Connection service, we believe this would be a violation of the JCBA.
The MEC Administration notified Delta senior management about this issue (it was the first they heard of it as well) and senior management contacted Shuttle America management. Shuttle America was planning to modify their fleet of EMB-175 aircraft to an increased MTOW of 89000 lbs. At the behest of Delta management, the planned MTOW modification of the Shuttle America EMB-175s has been cancelled. Shuttle America has also confirmed that none of their aircraft have been modified.
Whenever issues such as this come up, it is very helpful to immediately contact your elected representatives. Your C44 Representatives are not interested in any relaxation of scope in any manner.

Oh... trust me, that wasn't me. I changed how the email from ALPA is shown, I didn't write that about them being against the relaxation of scope. Thats their statement and quite a friendly one... "next time guys, when we're ignoring you, please don't go around us and post stuff on the internet. Thats not helpful to keeping this under wraps until its too late and were stuck with it and just have to sign off." Thats a bit tongue in cheek, I hope.

So true, that guy is managements pet. I would not be surprised if he is getting payola. Soon enough Moak will be trying to sell us on why we don't want to fly the 88s, 90s and DC9s. I could just imagine...."Those are regional planes and you guys are International pilots..."
