Similar thing happened to me a few years back. Went to the liquor store in uniform and a fellow customer made the usual inquiry about the booze. My response… “My F/O is a Johnny Walker Blue guy, and I’m a Grey Goose guy.”

If I hear from one more person who knows absolutely nothing about airlines, that I just need to get a job at (take your pick) American, United, Delta, Southwest...I think blood will shoot out of my ears!
I'm convinced they think that simply because I'm a pilot, I can just walk up to any airline and tell them I'm going to come to work for them. While I'm at it, I'll make them pay me $400k a year. And on my days off, I'll quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Tony Romo always chokes anyway.

I got sick of it too...so I applied just to satisfy the general public...and got hired. There...now everyone is quiet.

I was mistaken for a person dressed up as a pilot once.
The hotel I was staying at a hotel in Atlanta that had one of these Dragon-Con (SP?) conferences, its thousands and thousands of SCI-FI fans dressed as their favorite characters. You can even join like Darth Vaders 510th legion or something. But we walked in there in uniform and a few thought we had come dressed up as airline pilots, but most just smiled and made light of the fact we were staying at the hotel during the event.

So how many have been outside waiting on the hotel van only to have someone ask to get their bags to the checkin point? I made 5 bucks one day, slinging bags into the trunk of a car, they don't know what they don't know.

Don't get caught taking that tip, some of those valets have unions. There was a big stink in BOS couple of years ago over some issues with those guys, can't remember details but it got pretty serious.
