Exclamation Survey Closing In 24 Hours!

Just a quick shout to anyone who would like to complete the survey but hasn't yet done so - after a fantastic initial response, numbers of new respondents have now tailed off dramatically. I will therefore be calling a halt on any further responses in around 24 hours' time. This is your last chance to have your say, so please get your responses in ASAP!

A huge thank you to those of you who have taken the time to complete the survey; around 150 of you have done so which is a lot more than I was expecting!

I will be very busy over the next couple of weeks analysing the results and writing up my dissertation, but I will make the results available to you all as soon as possible after this is all done - I know many of you are eager to see the outcome!

Once again a massive thank you to everyone for your help!!!

Best regards,

Mike

Your survey wording implies that airline pilots have lost their authority.

Your results will be biased as a result.

Thanks for your comments, I will try to justify my logic. The way the survey is structured means that each of the statements must be biased one way or another, otherwise people couldn't agree or disagree with them. Since people can freely agree or disagree with each statement, I think its just about as objective as a survey can realistically get, although i grant that complete objectivity is always virtually impossible.

I could have equally made the statements biased in the opposite sense, and would then have had people saying I was implying that pilots haven't lost their authority! If you disagree or strongly disagree with any statement then please put your tick in the appropriate box. I am not 'hoping' for a certain trend to come out, but will duly achnowledge any trends, be they in agreement or disagreement with the survey statements.

I hope this helps to explain things a bit. For anyone who is uncertain, I can assure you that I will treat the results with as much objectivity as possible. Indeed some of the emerging trends do disagree with certain statements while others agree, and this will all be given equal credence.

My feelings have already been duly noted on the survey. But I have good mentors who aren't afraid to use the parking brake.

To the poor student that may get the joy of defending their study, a simple question was left out which may affect results: "Airline pilots are losing their authority." If the person taking the survey agrees with this statement, then the results of the following questions may show the reasons. If the person does not agree with that statement, then all of the following answers could be due to the perception of no loss of authority, versus a particular cause. While it may not invalidate the study, it is certainly worth exploring in the results, or thinking about it before arriving at the thesis grilling.
