Default New Alaska Routes announced...

Alaska Airlines Adds New Hawaii Service From Oakland, Expands Seattle-Honolulu Flying and Announces Seattle-Houston and Seattle-Atlanta Service - Yahoo! Finance

Watch out Delta & Continental...we're coming after you!!! Just kidding obviously. I'm a little surprised with the Atlanta announcement. Already served multiple times/day by Delta & Airtran right? Company cited weak Mexico and strong Hawaii demand. Looks like more lovely southeast flying if you're SEA based...yeehaww.

Since Delta now has the new "expanded" codeshare deal with you, I'd bet that at least one Delta ATL-SEA flight will be discontinued. I'll also bet that half the seats on the Alaska ATL-SEA flight as well as half the seats on the new Hawaii flights will be sold by Delta. We'll all be one happy family in about two years anyways so it will eventually all be a moot point.

The schedule changes announced today will not affect Alaska's plan to shrink capacity by 6 percent overall in 2009.
I wonder why they aren't going to do OAK-HNL

Because Hawaiian already serves that route and nobody serves OAK-OGG/KOA and the demand was there when Aloha and ATA were there?

Well Airtran only is summer seasonal. And their 4 flights a day are usually pretty full. So I think the demand is also there for year round service by 2 carriers.

They really need to try out a PDX-ATL. Delta does it twice a day and no matter when I commuted on it, it was beyond packed and I was lucky to get the JS.

In 5000 years when Delta has a pilot base in the Andromeda Galaxy, they will still be wearing the doublt-breasted suit coat....and the hat.

Guys,

Let's integrate one merger before we predict the next. The NWA merger at least included two carriers with similiar heavy lift. Integrating a soley narrow body airline would not be as "nice" an SLI. The bickering could quickly go the way of AWA/USAir.

No it wouldn't. We could just fence anything bigger than a 737 for, oh say, 20+ years. I'm sure we could find some guys with experience with that kind of thing.

Put those stones down, it was a joke!
