Carl

In the words of hank Williams Jr. "Hank why do you drink (to get drunk), why do you smoke (to get stoned), why do you write all those songs that you wrote (to get layed)."

I just want to add it to the 727 as one of the best "old, worthless, uneconomical airplanes" I've flown.

See ya in NRT.

Correct. Like we have had AE's with no backfill. Consider this like an MD with no top fill. The positions will just disappear. What's depressing now is looking around the outlying tarmac's in ATL and seeing all those 757's & 767's parked. Don't mind the RJ's sitting though. Hopefully the guys will take a serious look at the package and not make the same mistake some DAL guys did and not take it. Afterwards they realized that they are now working for free since their retirement evaporated and they subtract what they turned down. When the buyout is factored in (when the amounts are released), will guys do this job for half-pay for their last few years. There were still a handful a month retiring, now maybe a few more may come off the fence.

I guess I'm one of those idiots but riddle me this Bigflya.how come I'm much better off financially by staying than I would have been by taking the money and finding another job? I speak from experience not from the hip.
I think this package is aimed at our Northern brothers, they still have a pension so it makes sense. The big D would have to cough up a lot of cash to buy the Southern guys off and that ain't going to happen.

My guess is that this is a good way to get a little leaner in the fall/winter when they were projected to be overstaffed. If the economy turns around they can easily hire for summer 2010. If the economy still is putting along, they should be able to get by with what they have. If the economy goes further south, then we will see furloughs.

Anyone care to make a prediction? I am betting 250-300 offered and I bet they are all taken as well.

Let's see........

I start #25 next month and I'll be 59 in the fall .....

Was there a call for me???????????

From the latest Council 20 (DTW) update, regarding the PERP...

The MEC received a thorough briefing at the Special MEC meeting. Numerous questions were asked and answered. Concerns were expressed and addressed. In the end, the MEC provided specific direction. Ultimately, we believe that agreements can be reached, especially relative to the retirement incentive plan that will benefit the pilot group.

Asked...answered. Expressed...addressed. In the end...specific direction. What questions? What concerns? What specifics, or specific direction, now that I think of it???? Sounds like something out of freakin' "Catch 22".

Tried every phone number I can find, and I still can't get an answer from anyone drawing union pay regarding the progress of the PERP. Most of the time I can't even get my phone calls returned.

Not sure about the rest of you guys, but I for one expect answers to my questions instead of platitudes delivered in a mass email from my seemingly absentee LEC reps....

(and I'm in the "militant" council... Jeez.)

I'll wager fewer than 50 actually leave.

I hope it is a good enough offer to get some of the guys to leave...... If it's 1 or 500, each one that goes only protects positions for all of the remaining.

Hey if your looking for some REAL helpful, information make sure you check out the fancy magazine we get every month.

It's got alot of fancy words in it that are difficult to understand, but the pictures are bright, colorful, and fun to look at. It warms my heart with reassurance when I see all those fresh-faced, ALPA-Lanyarded pilots smiling from ear to ear. I can only dream that my 2% will one day give me a reason to smile and grin with the same confidence of popping a handful of Freshmint Mentos in my mouth while avoiding a possibly awkward, social situation.
