I thought JetBlue had several pilots on furlough. Yesterday I was told by a JetBlue executive they are accepting resumes at a pilot job fair. Any JB pilots know anything about that?
thank you... |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but B6 can do more than that. They can remove the pilot from the property by not renewing his/her contract - then start training a RAH guy or any other guy.
Carl For some reason, they kept them on. JJ |

RAH has not set a payrate for the E190 yet. How do you know that it will be less than Jet Blue? In all likelihood, it will be lower than Jet Blue, but not by a margin that will make Jet Blue management run to have RAH fly E190's for them. . |

Actually, Republic's pay scale for the 190 tops out higher than JetBlue's pay scale. Why would JetBlue farm out their flying to more expensive regional pilots?
If you're talking FO scale only, then you have a point. Captain pay rates at JetBlue and Republic are very similar (within 15%, and Republic is apparently in contract negotiations.) I don't see how anybody (with the top of their pay scale at $110) can look down at another carrier (with a pay scale at $119) and call their pilots inexperienced and inferior. If pay scale equated to inferior pilots...well, you know. |

I'm curious as to what jetblue pilots think of this RAH agreement to fly the E190's. I'd be a little nervous that Jetblue would be next. E190's flown for even less pay. Can't be good be an E190 operator. I still think your managment cares more about their quality of product then getting the cheapest deal. However, if midwest or AMR, UAL, managers ever found their way over there. Might not be good. Has their been any talk of getting a union going again. If nothing else it should show the importance of a CBA to secure an airtight scope clause. Just something to think about.

clear it all up
1. Jetblue does not have a single pilot on furlough
2. Jetblue is very protective of its brand and it is unlikely that it would risk hurting it by contracting out flying. (express jet did it for a few months but it was payed for by Embraer due to mx with the 190's) 3. Our pay rates are coming up on the 190, anywhere from 20-35%, it is retro to June 1st when they get all the details figured out. 4. yes our pay currently tops out at 110 vs 119 for RAH, however we do get time and a half for everything over 70 hours. 5. Jetblue Pilots no longer have "5 Year" contract, you do not have to worry about being let go after 5 years. 6. We have run several new hire classes this past couple of months, they were people who already had applications on file with B6. I am sure after they move through those people they will open up the application processes again on the website. 7. As far as RAH flying 190's for pennies, I would hope that not a single RAH pilot would bid that flying, that way when they get assigned it they can say in good form that they were forced to do it. |

Be serious. Jetblue actually has minimum hiring requirements. Republic hires anyone with a pulse who can recognize an RJ on the ramp 2 out of 3 times.

Many airlines don't. Yet, most have better contracts!

Anywhere from 20-35%? So, you're expecting around 20.5% then huh? So, months of stalling on improvements and inadequate retro is acceptable huh?

RA effin H "initial" base rates are higher than B6's "latest" rates which have already been revised and are over 3 years in the making. And you say, "However, we do get time and a half "? You're kidding right? You think that's a good deal?

So, you don't have to worry about the 5 year mark, you have to worry about ANYTIME!

Maybe several "classes", but NOT several "PILOT" classes!

"Forced" to do it"????? I've said it before, You can't polish a turd! Yet, here you go again trying to do just that. Mike, you must NEVER, NEVER, try to negotiate "ANYTHING" for your pilot group. And, stay away from used car salesmen. They'll tear you a new one with their eyes shut! JJ |
