Isn't United trying to do that with AerLingus on the IAD-MAd flights?

Sort of. But the Delta PWA and JV agreement prevent any similar situation for Delta pilots.

It didn't work for Song, either.

I realize "Scope" is a catchy cause in these parts, but in reality, F/A scope doesn't do anything for pilots, by definition. The same is true in reverse, of course. I sort of see Iceman's logic, a sort of "First, they came for the trade unionists...", but again, what's in one group's contract... is in that group's contract.

Than it would make sense for the flight attendants to have a union, and the enforceable contract that comes with negotiation.
