Default Airbus 320 Cat III checks

Are CAT III checks req'd on the 320 or how does the aircraft maintain CAT III status? Several pilots I've spoken to say they've never done or seen a req't for a CAT III flight test like other aircraft require every 30 days??

thx

Yes they are required just like every other aircraft. They are often done with ground equipment so the checks can seem transparent to the line guy.

Cat II/III status should be on the maintenance release, although different carriers have different opspecs.

Our release would indicate if a CAT III approach/ldg was needed. And it was in the log but yes, our airplanes (757/767, A320, B-737) needed to log x approaches and autolands. That, of course, required you to tell ATC and tower to keep the critical area clean for the event.
