Another arrogant post. Good luck SWA....I remember UAL back in the heyday. Fapa looked out for all of our pilots. As someone who would have benefitted from the SWA deal, at the expense of the junior pilots, I am glad we came to this decision to save our jobs and wonderful company. If their was a company that was going to buy you with better pay rates, at the expense of your culture and airline and junior pilots and employees, would you vote yes. I guess I know the answer now. Cheers.

Wow. I suspect that these Frontier/SWA threads are attracting a lot of Delta pilots. I think thats the third time a SWA pilot has implied that a DAL poster was a SWA reject.

Point #1: (Brace yourself) Everyone does not want to work for Southwest.

SWA guys, take note that there are a lot of DAL pilots on here, probably initially because we were interested in any merger talks because we just went thru one. But, now I suspect we are all over these F9 threads because we are amazed that SWA pilots are acting 10X worse than any North or South DAL pilot did during our merger. Thanks for the show and keep putting your feet in it, that's funny too. :D

if you think the people who post on these boards represent a majority view at any airline you are extremely mistaken, I have jumpseated on,deadheaded, and have an immediate family member who is in SWA's employ, a finer bunch from the rampers,to the 737 boys, and girls up front, you will be hard pressed to find. They were protecting their own during this process from the CEO on down,a rare thing these days. I wouldnt be judging them too harshly, some of the Widget folk on these ,and especially other boards ,do not exactly shed a shining light on DALNWA, and I happen to think that you boys have the best old school legacy going. end of rave.

What's fair depends upon what side of the negotiating table you're sitting on.

Don't know if the earlier post implying that SWA had agreed to pay protection for the F9 pilots was correct or not.
Whether it was or not, if I had been a voting F9 pilot, my inclination would have been to vote for SWA-even with the staple.

SWA has a long history of good labor-mgt relations. Company philosophy seems to be take care of your people, and if they're happy-your customers will be happy.
Even during these crappy times, you don't read a lot about SWA downsizing their fleet. Mostly read that SWA isn't expanding as planned, but, still buying new jets.

Republic/Midwest is just wrong.

Will be interesting to see how Republic "rationalizes" the F9 pay. Wonder if it will work the same way, get rid of F9 planes and replace them with Republic planes.

When I got hired at DAL in 1991, DAL had never furloughed. So much for that. SWA has a great business model for a crappy industry. But it is not invulnerable. It has limits. When those limits are tested, employees will realize that they are factored on the liability side of the balance sheet. I really hope you don't find this out the hard way as I have a number of friends that work there, and I would never wish what most of us have been thru on them. I also know that forum posters may or may not represent a majority view of the entire group, but the arrogance shown here by SWA pilots is truly sickening.

That's a typical response from an SWA pilot when somebody says something bad about SWA... "Didn't get hired, huh?" Gimme a break!

727,

I don't think that the people on these boards represent a majority view of the SWA pilots. I've got three close friends who are pilots for SWA and know one of the chief pilots pretty well. I haven't spoken with them about the proposed F9 merger, but I guarantee you, they would not have been saying the things some have said on here.

No pilot group is perfect and I mentioned previously that the DAL/NWA merger wasn't pretty. We still have flare-ups. But, telling another pilots wife she needs to go work as a bar maid; challenging the entire aviation industry to a duel, and complaining that said industry was responsible for their tough negotiations, were not among the things I witnessed with the NWA/DAL merger. We fought amongst ourselves.

Oh, and we didn't post porn.

It's almost like some of these guys are having a meltdown from the revelation that some might not want to be on the bottom of their list.

But, I know the vast majority of SWA pilots are NOT like this. My post is only directed to those who are....

Hey Ts,

Football season soon, huh? You'se guys might have some troubles this year. It's rough out there. :D

Dirtdiver 08-15-2009 09:16 AM

I noticed a couple things during the thread.

1) SWA guys jumping on F9 for not showing up for a hastily arranged last minute negotiating session. YGTBSM!

2) Curiosity why so many DAL guys are paying attention. It's because we were SWA 20 years ago. Everything we touched turned to gold, and we couldn't believe any pilot would want to fly for any other inferior airline.

One day you'll be having a beer next to a legacy pilot saying "I can't believe how fast it went bad after our CEO....."
