Default SWA Poolies...facebook

Poolies, I have started a group on Facebook for us all to connect and get to know each other. If you wish to join, either do a search for SWA POOLIES or PM me and I will hook you up. Thanks.

I have to agree with MILPILOT, I don't think it's wise to do this. As much as I would like to stay in touch, I make it a point not to post any personal information on any website or forum. Remember, everyone is looking, and you're not officially an employee yet.

Even worse, the webpage may have been archived. In the future, the company can still see the webpage even though it is currently not active.

I read a comail sometime ago about web pages with personal info, eg. facebook, myspace, livejournal. No worth risking my career on it. I've resisted all the facebook invites.

Is the concern here that your current employer could find out you're a SWA poolie? Or is it a broader concern with social networking sites and security?

I think it would have to do with the company finding out. They are very mindful of their brand. Even though the intent may be innocent, they may not see it that way.

Many people have been fired after employers found their personal online profiles / websites.

Bingo! To add to what KC said, keep in mind that everything is subject to interpretation. Someone could imply that they are tired of waiting in the pool, and really mean that they are dying to start their job with SWA. Yet, the company could interpret the same comment to meant that you've lost interest.

I imagine people are fired for what they say or how they portray their company on the website.

Actually being on a social networking site is innocent. And if a company is not willing to hire someone just because they are on one is retarded. I'm not sure I'd want to work for that company.

Edit: I can understand a job in security or one in a "sensitive" feild, but come on. We are pilots. We are social creatures.
