Poor turnout for DAL NFL openings

Well it should have been none.
If we furlough it is what it is. Better do it before CPS is totally spun off and we get some DAL pilots there to sit in office and fight.
In reality I did not think that the company expected that many to do it. It is a certainty that if you took one you did not get paid, whereas if you dropped your trips you still had day to day and month to month control.
IMHO they should have offered the DC match on a SIL 55 hr credit. Most would have taken that.

I agree. A NFL isn't any kind of an incentive to idle pilots. It's merely another way to name SLOA's. I don't know if people on SLOA are forefeiting benefits, but I don't care. The point is that there is little in the way of give-and-take, of compromise. If the comapny is serious about trying to approach the staffing without furloughs, and if our various dis-incentives are meaningful, we don't need to give up 100% to make them happy.
I have other charitable causes than DAL I would rather support...
If they want to restructure NFLs and SILs, they simply need to agree to a one-time exception to SIL's, for this winter only, allowing SILs at 35 or 40 hours pay. When it's both you and DAL subsidizing a job, at 50% each, then it makes more sense.
...
On the flip side of this, I guess it says something about side businesses that "everyone" is rumored to have. If they were that good, and that successful, you'd think more people would take a short-term opportunity to dedicate themselves 100%.
