Hmmm, good question. Are they considered active employees by proxy of their recall rights even though they are not currently on the payroll?

I have a question, because I don't remember much from high school civics. Doesn't there have to be another bill that passes the senate, then merged and then signed by the president in order to become a law? If that is the case, I think we still have a long way to go with this.

That's what I remember. However, it did pass the house by almost a landslide: 409-11, so I'm guessing the senate will not be a problem

From what I'm reading the 1500 hours (or ATP) is not needed until 3 years from today (10/14/2012). So you have three years to build whatever time you have up to 1500. Is that how you other fellas read it? Read it again below...

"(B) ALL FLIGHT CREWMEMBERS- Rules issued under paragraph (1) shall ensure that, after the date that is 3 years after the date of enactment of this Act, all flight crewmembers--

• (i) have obtained an airline transport pilot license under part 61 of title 14, Code of Federal Regulations;"

Will that include Part 135 operations as well, or strictly Part 121? Regionals fly under 135 I believe.

I'd remind everyone that this is just the house version of the bill. From what I understand, there is considerable resistance to the "flight school waiver" part of the bill on the senate.

Odds are 50/50 this thing even comes out of the senate looking the same...

Almost all regionals operate under Part 121.

I would bet that by the time the bill actually passes (congress/senate) you should have your 1500 (unless you are on reserve and don't fly AT ALL which I highly doubt). A standard PC should take care of you at that point
