Default Delta: "Wind Check"

I just hate that I didn't get a chance to post this gem of a picture, from that airliner porn site, before someone ruined the other thread.

"WIND CHECK... OKAY, THANKS TOWER! OUR EARS ARE BACK AND OUR TONGUES ARE OUT... YEEEEHAW!"

Question for the Airbus guys, does the airplane really try to trim your cross control out in the flare or does the logic know its in a flare? Someone told me it trims out so you have to wait til the last second to take the crab out... unless you're the guy in the picture above.

Nice pic!! Didn't read all of the other thread, but.....

for me the best "wind check" is my crab angle a few seconds before I start my flare.

Airbus says the A300 can be landed in a full crab with a max xwind.

You can land the -400 in a crab as well.

I believe all airliners are designed to allow at least full crab touchdown up to the xwind limit.

That being said... well I'll just refer you to my signature:

The MD-11 would break into a million pieces if you landed it like that!
