Nwa Nordo for 3 hours?

FOX News: NWA Flight Had No Contact for 3 Hours
Okay, I'm trying to understand how this happened. Previous reports stated that the period of NORDO was only an hour or so. New reports say 3 hours. It just isn't believable that a professional pilot would not contact ATC for that length of time.
The other day I flew from Kansas to Washington, a three hour flight or so, in the very early morning. All through Kansas City ARTCC, Denver ARTCC, and SLC ARTCC it felt like we were the only ones on the radio. The only time we heard from ATC was on check-in and hand-off. It made me uncomfortable after 5-10 minutes after check-in and not hearing any other random radio calls. Invariably, as my comfort level was exceeded the controller would hand us off to the next sector.
How can someone go from California (I think) to Minnesota without talking to ATC?

I tend to doubt the accuracy of the news report. The only way I can imagine them going nordo for that long is if there was one HELL of a party the night before...

Don't even start with that. Do you want to take a breathalyzer every time you go to work? They could easily make that happen.

This says that they were out of contact for 91 minutes.
That is one hell of a long time to be messing around with laptops or discussing company policy.

I'd rather watch Fox and BBC than anyone else. There is a reason why Fox beats the socks off the other networks -- combined. It probably has nothing to do with all those made up CNN stories in the 80s and 90s.
CNN hit rocked bottom when it published the Operation Tailwind atrocities in the 80s ... accusing military servicemen of warcrimes. When in fact, it was a made up story, complete with actors for video. Then there was that journalist there during the 90s that made up all sorts of fake stories and nobody fact checked his work.
Sad.
Then there is MSNBC. It is owned outright by GE. That network isn't there to report the news, it is to be the voicebox for a big corporation who is pushing a huge green agenda.
At least Fox is owned by media group.
