Default Front Page - job fair

The job fair in LGA this month says Jetblue will be accepting resumes. Are they planning on hiring?

Why? What's so unique about the Midwest pilots? There's lots of other furloughed pilots and a whole bunch of pilots stagnated at the regionals waiting for their chance. I'm not sure why you think the Midwest pilot's plight is any worse than others looking for work. The Midwest guys should be given the same opportunity as everybody else. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have no idea if we will hire or not. No firm deliveries at all in 2010, but we have some Embraer options and some increased utilization on (I believe) both fleets.

Rumors from no new bodies at all in 2010 to lots of new airframes. CFO in 3rd quarter call said none at all, but hinted at possible opportunites. If we hire I absolutely hope former YX get pref treatment. I've written my thoughts on as much to Verna.

Because I can't think of another major airline pilot group who was bought by a commuter airline and subsequently hosed, all as part of the plan. Now bought by another major and screwed, well there are plenty but this is unique. The Midwest guys had a great thing going, gave the peeps a great product all while making a nice paycheck...not sticking half their peeps in the back of contracted RJ to the lowest bidder. Its a shame that's why I hope we give them pref hiring.

So because the Midwest guys got bought by RAH, they deserve to get hired over guys that straight up got laid off at UAL, ATA, AWE, ETC?!? I feel bad for the YX guys, but I dont see why they should go ahead of all the thousands of other pilots laid off across the board. Hiring should be based on who the best candidate is for the job... PERIOD!!!

I would visit the JetBlue jobs website regularly. If it opens for pilot apps, then we are hiring. Honestly, I do not know if it is open or not right now. It was not as of last month. JetBlue went to another of these job fairs and collected resumes, etc. last year without intentions to immediately hire. If you want a shot, though, you should go and meet Verna Kay and her team. Unless you know guys here, that is the best way. Personal contact with the hiring team is viewed quite favorably.

Last month, the hiring team posted no hires for 2010. Base goals for pilot count showed contraction at nearly all bases through Dec 2010. This data was published, though, before a strong third quarter and a significant Boston expansion announcement. We are hiring flight attendants now, which in the past, has occassionally presaged pilot hiring.
