Default Delta and Airlineapps dot com

Is Airlineapps dot com the only route to apply with Delta?

I am very interested in Delta (and have been for years - didn't get a call during the last round of hiring) and am wondering if this is the best/only way to get my application and resumé to their HR.

I have been updating my stuff on airlineapps for years and have never heard a peep from a single carrier on there.

Any tips would be very welcome.

Yes, it is the vendor they use.

If you do not beleive it, go to the hiring page of this site, and Delta Pilot Minimum Qualifications

Delta Pilot Basics
We are proudly recruiting pilots for first officer positions. As a new Delta first officer, you have an opportunity to initially be assigned to a MD88/90, a 737NG, or even a 757/767 aircraft type among our fleet of more than 440 aircraft. To qualify for employment as a pilot with Delta you must meet all of the following requirements.

General Requirements

* At least 21 years of age
* Graduate of a four-year degree program from a college or university accredited by a recognized accrediting organization
o Degrees obtained from a non-U.S. institution must be evaluated for equivalency to U.S. degrees by a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
o Postgraduate education will be given favorable consideration.
* Current passport or other travel documents enabling the bearer to freely exit and re-enter the U.S. (multiple reentry status) and be legally eligible to work in the U.S. (possess proper working documents)

FAA Requirements

* FAA commercial fixed-wing pilot license with an instrument rating
* Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate
* Passing score on FAA ATP written exam preferred

Flight Time Requirements

* Minimum of 1,200 hours of total documented flight time
* Minimum of 1,000 hours of fixed wing turboprop or turbofan time

When evaluating the flight time of applicants meeting the basic qualifications, consideration will be given to, among other things, quality, quantity, recency, and verifiability of training; complexity of aircraft flown; types of flight operations; and hours flown as PIC in turbine powered aircraft. Applicants invited to interview must provide appropriate documentation of all flight hours.
Other

* FCC Radiotelephone Operator's Permit (RP)
* DOT required pre-employment drug test and a medical exam administered by Delta
* TSA required fingerprint based Criminal History Records Check and a Delta background check

Applications for employment as a Delta pilot must be submitted through AirlineApps.com. Applications for Delta pilot positions may be submitted free of charge, though a fee may be charged if you wish to join AirlineApps as a member for added features. If you're already a member of the AirlineApps system, sign in to your account and add Delta to your target listing.

I'll just continue to wait by the phone. I'm sure it'll ring very soon now.

The best way to get "The Call" is to:
1) Make sure every single line/question is completed for the application (even things you think are trivial ie repeating the same fax number)
2) Have a current employee (preferably a pilot) personally see the head of hiring to have him/her pull your app.

I didn't get the call initially either, all though my info was in and current the same time my buddies that got hired into the first class and second classes.

Be persistent....I had a buddy walk in and he was told I would be sent an invitation. I patiently waited for that email and it never came. Another friend walked in months later and requested the same thing. When he pulled my application he said I had already been sent an invitation to interview and were awaiting my reply!! My buddy politely but persistently convinced him to re send the invitation for an interview, and watched him hit the send key on the computer. Guess what.....after a week (not including the first 4 months of waiting) I still hadn't gotten the email to interview.....
Long story short.......PERSISTENCE

While you're waiting, I would suggest going over your app, line by line to make sure that every word is spelled correctly and all the information required is there. Might want someone you trust to proofread it too. All it takes to get passed over is one misspelled word or misplaced/missing word. With over 12,000 apps, they are being very particular in how they cull the pile.

edit: Dang Sinca, you're faster than me!

Thanks for the tips. I do appreciate it. I have a couple of friends at Delta and NWA and I'll give them a shout. I've flown with a few of them and one wrote a very nice letter of recommendation for me.

I'll go over the online application again for any misplaced letters or commas!

Just to be clear, Delta isn't hiring right now, and there are no announced plans to do so.

I know. But I've heard rumblings that they might in the next 6 months (just rumors, nothing more) and I want to be ready when they do.

No guarantees of course except that you're guaranteed not to get hired if you're not ready.

As Slow stated, they have not announced anything. They may or may not, but it is a good idea to keep updating this stuff every 30 days or so. The system notes when it was updated.
