I recall sitting on a TWA flight back in 1990 or so and speaking with a guy who'd been just been recalled after being furloughed for something like 15 years. That length of time, to me, would serve as a message from The Almighty that I might consider an alternate career path ;-)

I am not an airline pilot. What you have to keep in mind, is that many of those who were furloughed for a long time could have possibly deferred their recall date. Because someone says they've been on the street for 10yrs could also mean that they chose to defer any recalls. That is just my thought on this.

There are some that go out on voluntary furlough....and some that get furloughed involuntary. Just make sure that you are talking to the ones that get furloughed involuntary.

Lots on the message board will say they have been out for a longer time just to paint a bad picture, but went out on their own/ or did not take a recall on the first chance they could....but then there actually are some that have been out for a long involuntary furlough.

Could that possibly be the jr. captain? Would make more sense.

Something doesn't make sense there either. A 6/89 hire at AA should be able to hold a left seat line in the 737 or S80, and reserve 757/767 Capt.

Could it be the most junior ex-TWA person on property. That's the only way it could make sense.
