Just curious? What is the longest airline furlough?

I knew a pan am pilot on furlough for 10 years, and no he did not go back because he made too much money in real estate.

Default Furloughs

HAHA. I am furloughed since 911 and I got my real estate license. I had 2 calls in December that amounted to nothing and four calls in January. I am now applying to regionals with no luck.LOL

I'm currently doing a furlough survey and the American pilots are reporting that the jr. active pilot was hired 6/89. Is this right (AMR pilots)?

Default furlough

Well as an AA furloughee. I was hired 2/00. But I am a "Walmart" or was it "KMart" pilot. I wanted to be the biggest and best at something in life,so if it's furlough length,so be it. GO AMR.

It has been eight years and three months for the most junior guys at AA. When it's all said and done, it's quite possible that it will end up being an eleven to thirteen year furlough. Then again, if the APA rolls on scope or if recall rights are negotiated away, it will end up being an endless furlough

Have to do some research, but I think the longest was Pan Am at ~ 16 years.

Bar is correct- They furloughed in the early 70's and didnt recall until the mid 80's. Some of the guys hadn't flown since the furlough and required basic instrument flight training and such to come back on the line!
