Default Latest & Greatest?

I recently posted an entry under this heading. It was not my intention to be disrespectful to any pilots of this airline. I have read all of your posts. Anyone who took offence to my post to you I am sorry. What I could not understand was how anyone who had lost their retirement & taken siginificant pay cuts could support a management that could then undertake the purchase of another major airline without any attempt whatsoever to make their employees "whole". When I was looking to get hired in the early 80's "D" was a "Blue Chip" company that had earned the trust & respect of its employees. Not so anymore....in my & many others opinion. I sincerely don't understand how you guys can "roll over" & not insist that you be at least brought back to ground zero financially prior to any other "foward" progress movements of this once great employee focused company.

I feel sorry for anyone who suffers a financial loss especially for no fault of their own, and most definitely when it comes to retirements.
As far as company vs. employee, the concept of "making whole" goes out the window when a union is involved.
For better and for worse.
I cannot think of a profession where a class of employees are more reliant on the unions than the pilot profession.
So much so that seniority and rank is so protected that seeking employment elsewhere is likely a kiss of death.
As far as I see it equal blame (some may say credit) should be cast on (given to) both the employers and the pilots.

You have a very poor understanding of the RLA and a unions function within a company. Exactly how do you think we should insist? What mechanism do you think we should use? If you buy another airline without making me whole I am going to hold my breath until I turn blue? Do you even have a clue at the financial cost to make the pilots whole and where that would leave Delta on a competitive basis with other airlines. No one at any airline is going to be made whole. Bringing the profession back is going to require a series of contracts with everyone moving up to keep the cost basis somewhat close.
