I non-revved on F9 Feb. 5 and purchased a $3 snack, which is posted on my credit card statement. However, while looking over the statement, I also noticed that there is another $3 charge dated Feb 17. I have not flown F9, or any other airline, since Feb. 5. Any ideas of what might have happened? I talked to the bank and they said they can dispute the charge, but I don’t know if this could jeopardize my flight benefits. Any ideas/suggestions? I fly on F9 as ‘other airline.’ By the way, I am not whining about the $3 and don’t want to make a big deal out of this. . I am just curious and would like to know what you guys think about it. Thanks!

I know usually when they swipe the cards, they data is then stored until they get on the ground. I am not sure how it gets sent out or when it gets sent out, but it seems like it takes a few days sometimes. I have had it charge a week after the flight.
If you purchased something for only 3 bucks, and they charged you 6, I would dispute the charge.

Wow, this makes it to the APC forums?
I guess it's something else for others to complain about, huh? I'm sure BB is behind this. I think he's secretly having them double charge people for snacks.
If you were double charged, dispute it. Your bank will most likely credit you back without any incident.

Just wanted to know if something like this ever happened to any of you. Posted it on the site for pilots because pilots non-rev and sometimes purchase snacks in-flight. I know that it is not a big deal, but just wanted to share this with some of you. Thank y’all

Here's one SCAM that unscrupulous flight attendants have been known to run (or so I've heard):
If they can accept both cash and credit for in flight purchases, they can effectively "double dip" by doing the following: They run your credit card once for an item purchase, then later run it again a second time without your immediate knowledge. They then take the second charge out of the "cash" till, pocket it, and hope no one notices or contests the second charge. It's fairly easy to do, because inventory control on airplane items is pretty sloppy (for food and beverages especially) and mostly left up to the integrity of the flight crews.
I heard about someone catching this scam on an international flight where they were double charged for an expensive item (duty free stuff), which eventually led to the culprit being discovered and terminated.
Now only .000001% of flight attendants would be dishonest (and stupid) enough to try this. That said, for a small amount, some might just be counting on you not bothering to contest it because of the hassle.
One of the many reasons airlines are moving to the "credit only" for inflight purchases.
