time for a new phone & the iphone is not an option because of poor reception at my house. Does anyone have experience with the new droid phones from verizon?

 

I really like mine (HTC Eris) & used it to reply to your thread. Not sure about icrew but know it works with flica and sabre; for those wondering.

I had the same issue, regarding reception in my area, and was able to get mine free through Verizon.... that sealed the deal for over the iphone

 

The Droid is a very good phone and I own one. Unfortunately, you can do just about everything in iCfrew except see your text based schedules / lines. I haven't found a browser app (free one) that seems to make it work.

The iPhone has Journey and that works with iCrew.

Anyone know about the Google phone?

You gave me some great feedback a few months ago when the Droid came out. With the birth of a son, I haven't had time yet to go purchase one. I was wondering how you still felt about it, any shortcomings, etc. Right now, I don't have a smartphone and use a Verizon wireless card for internet in the rooms but with more and more hotels offering that service, I'm considering canceling the wireless card and going with a smartphone. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I really like the Droid phone. It is a very good cell phone that has most if not all capabilities of an iPhone. I have not found a browser app that works well with iCrew. So if that is a must, you need to go with the iPhone.

I use my phone to tether my computer so I always have an internet connection. And since Verizon has very large 3G coverage, thats a big bonus . The only bummer is Verizon puts your data connection on hold during any phone calls. But if you already know the capital of Peru, who cares right? hahah

The only thing I do not like about the Droid is the extra full size keyboard. I never use it and it does kind of get annoying when the phone decides to split in half. I always use the on screen keyboard/touch pad. I am not sure why Motorola created both. Perhaps it was for the kiddies who text like crazy with both hands?

If I had to do it all over again, I would seriously look at Google's new phone as it doesn't have the sliding full keyboard of the Droid. I don't know that much about the Google phone, but at the time I got the Droid it wasn't available.

Question? I've heard of the ability to tether the phone to your computer to create an internet connection but the reps at the Verizon store didn't know how. How are you able to do that? That would completely cinch the deal with me as it would be cheaper to do the phone than it would be to maintain my wireless card access.

I have the HTC Hero (sprint) there is a free app in the store called Pdanet, you download it to your phone. When you open it up it will give you directions on how to download to your labtop and how to use. Works pretty well, in fact if you have a labtop that is Bluetooth capable you can use that connection instead of a cable.

 

I heard a rumor that when Verizon reveals it's 4G network, this summer, it will unveil a Iphone on its new network as well. I recently ditched my blackberry storm for the droid. Do not I repeat do not buy the storm! It gave me headaches daily. The droid is a much better product. I second the previous poster about the built in keyboard. I never use it, the touch screen keyboard is very easy to use. Especially compared to the storm.

If you have patience wait till the sumer to see if a Iphone on the verizon network comes to fruition. Otherwise the Droid is a good phone. The Google/GPS navigation is awesome. The goggle voice search works great.

 

In my house I only get a 1/2 bar signal on ATT even though it is full strength in the driveway. I went to Radio Shack and bought a cell signal booster. $300 but now I have 4 bars throughout the house.

 

I was just going to get a Hero myself. How do you like it? Does pdanet work with any sprint data plan? Thanks.
