Republic furloughed Midwest's flight crews when it replaced the Boeing 717 jets, Midwest's former main fleet, with aircraft flown by less-experienced, lower-paid Republic crews.

Now what do you think the writer meant by this?

All you love to focus on is the end game because thats what makes you feel better. You know what DOESN'T make you feel better? The fact that your POS CEO systematically sold your beloved airline out from under you but thats not as sexy as bashing all those "trash haulers" at RAH. Yea... last time I checked I wasn't in the board room when we decided to throw our hat in the ring to grab your dying airline.

How embarrassing would that be to have your photo on there with 'your story' :D

I am not the spelling and grammar police. However I took this directly from the 'ATP Flight school' that pimps Bedford and his 'airline'.

Paul (ATP's head pimp) is interviewing Alex Osleger from Republic.
Here is the lead in to the story:

"Mr. Osleger has established himself as an authority in the regional airline industry, so we very pleased when he took time from his hectic schedule to answer a few questions for us"

This genius then asks the Director of flight ops at RAH a question:

"Is being an airline pilot still a viable career?

"
Wrong person to ask! (laughs)
Yes it is and those who start towards that now will be ahead of the game when the airlines start to hire pilots again."

Thank you ATP Flight school and Republic. Class act.

Yea, you really "saved" us. That's why I apply weekly to the state of Wisconsin for welfare.

Passengers go online shopping for the cheapest fairs but want first class service and amenities. That is impossible to sustain. Midwest was a great airline, but it's business model couldn't be sustained by enough passengers willing to pay the price for it's level of service. This is the same for all airlines.

Welcome to the new paradigm.

That may have been true for Midwest but not Frontier/Lynx. Frontier did a good job of offering a low fare with good service hence the loyal following in Denver and elsewhere. The only reason FAH declared bankruptcy is because a credit card processing company decided to increase it's holdback at a time when fuel spiked. If that had not happened and the Q400 operation was allowed to expand as planned, the Frontier/Lynx story would be completely different.

As far as the low pay vs. unemployment are you speaking from experience or just preaching?

The new paradigm is a regional bought two carriers with mainline aircraft. Midwest is a "virtual airline" proudly coined by its CEO and Frontier is next.

The fact that the talent at Frontier that had experience running a branded operation has been driven off is very telling what kind of company RAH is.

I will give you lower-paid, but less experienced? This person has no clue of my experience level. Even the 500 hour wonder still has to pass the same checks as a 10,000 hour pilot. ILS approaches are the same for everyone last time I checked, but you would rather back up a reporter who knows nothing about the industry.

Really? Do you really think that was the only reason? Sounds a lot like the guy who fails his PC and thinks it was because he couldn't hold altitude on his steep turns.

That might have been the straw that broke the camel's back or the most visible last link in a chain of events, but I seriously doubt that was the only thing wrong with the business model and it alone brought about a bankruptcy filing.

I knew someone would pick on that, want to correct any spelling also?

Let's change it from "only" to "the reason given", FAH financial performance has been rehashed on this forum plenty. Go search if you really care or just make another post pointing out the obvious.

And while I'm in this kind of mood, RAH guys should back off and understand that the company you work for is causing a lot of harm and heartache to a lot of people. Call it capitalism at work like the person in my jump seat the other day, but it show's a complete lack of empathy.

Look the RAH guys are tired of hearing the same constant crying about it just as you are sick of the lame "its capitalism" response. I think its total crap what BB has done to the pilots at YX and F9 so far and I don't support that. But frankly the sentiment from many of the YX posters and some F9 posters is the RAH pilots should just shut up, roll over and pee on themselves because all the big bad "experienced" pilots are looming over them now. Frankly that attitude is elitist and weak and your going to get pushback from people if you continue to beat that drum.
