Rumor has it that this priority thing is soon to be history. Heard that the big guys are tired of regionals getting priority on more than one carrier and are going to nix it and switch to a first come, first serve for all offline carriers.
Good example would be the Republic folks who get priority on everyone as they serve more than one master.

Unfortunately in all these different situations gate agents usually do not know the correct priority and you will get screwed if you don't search the rules yourself.

I've seen Republic Pilots get priority on more than 1 carrier before so I know it happens.
Your post proves how screwed up it is when even the agents are having a hard time deciding who's who in the scheme of things. Frankly I'd like to see the change made and get rid of all the ridiculous priorities.
First come. first serve sounds fair to me.

This has been bugging me because I dont have my FOM handy but I would appreciate it if other Delta guys can chime in on this.
I was in the jumpseat today with a Delta employee who works with "Performance Graphs" in the MEL's...I didnt really understand his job description but it sounds like he updates pretty much any graph having to do with performance in our MEL's.
Anyways, I didnt even think they could jumpseat but obviously they can. He said they are allowed to "observe" even though he was using the jumpseat privilege to go on vacation.
I had to run to get on the jumpseat as I was not able to reserve it because it was a last minute kind of thing.
I think I already know the answer to this but....lets say there was already another Delta pilot listed on one of the jumpseats (It was an A320 with two jumpseats) and then this guy reserved the other jumpseat, I could have booted him off correct? I was going to work (That should not matter as he should NEVER Imo be able to bump a Delta pilot off our jumpseat. Only people that can are FAA and LCA doing a line check)
This has been bugging me because I brought up the hypothetical situation to him in cruise and he seemed to believe I could not have bumped him. I think he was full of BS and doesnt understand how the jumpseat priority works. Anyone care to chime in????
