Once again it seems the second you step on an aircraft, all your civil rights seem to be left at the airport. Tell me what right a F/A has to take MY child away from me. Does she know the medical history of my child? I hope the airline pays out big for this and it NEVER happenes again. I probably would have been arrested for assault if ANYONE on an airplane tried to take away my child.

of course. You're probably also the guy who berates a neighbor for correcting your child. Values..we're losing and I suspect you're part of the problem.

Kudos to the FA.

If that neighbor was you, then yes I would berate you since I suspect that you are part of the problem since your statement makes no sense. The parent disciplined the child and you say kudos to the F/A for taking the child away, then you attack me as someone who does not want my child disciplined. Make up your mind. Can the usher in a movie theater take away your baby? Can a waitress in a restaurant do it? Now if the F/A had told the Captain that a parent smacked their child and she thinks the police should be waiting at the gate I could almost see that as a way to go.

Kudos to the lawyer that gets money from SW on this one. Any Attorneys want to chime in???

The flight attendant offered to hold the child while the parents had it out, they agreed, what else is there? Has this really soaked up this much time and data on this forum? Ridiculous.

It wasn't a Flight Attendant. It was a human being watching another human being (sort of) beat on a smaller defenseless human being.. and she did what she should. Unless that child had CF, what does the medical history have to do with it?

Of course all the angst is based on a news service report so who knows what the REAL story is... slapped could mean punched repeatedly or more than likely, a simple tap....

If they felt the child was in danger, I would hope they would.

Do the right thing. It's simple. Help those who aren't capable of helping themselves.

I understand this struck a nerve with you, but it makes you come across as a emotionally charged, money grubbing *****. "How can someone do something that gets me paid?" That's a sick way to go through life.

So by your reasoning if I see someone getting beat up in front of my house, I should just stay inside, let it happen, and not offer any assistance?

Well Royer, that was very profound. As a SWA employee, a frequent flyer on DAL and while jumpseating on other carriers I can honestly say that the greyhound passengers are at every airline.

You are correct. Greyhound passengers exist at every airline. It just thought it was funny that I guessed which airline it was before I read the article.

But am I wrong to conclude that the lower the ticket price, the lower the class of people that buy the tickets? You don't see the poor buying seats on Netjets.

+1. The Mom should have been slapped.

Taking the child away was correct. SWA would have probably gotten sued either way - taking the child, or negligence for not taking the child.
