Default Jumpseat on US Airways

Hey all, what is the process to J/S on US Airways? Do you have to call ahead of time, make a non-rev listing or is it sign up at the gate? Is it the same on all the feeders as well? Thanks for any help.

I've j/s on US many times. You only need to go to the gate and the agents will be happy to help you. They always have been with me. One thing however, when you get down to the airplane, the F/A's seem to take it upon themselves to block the flight deck, ask for your ID and J/S form and take it to the capt instead of you doing it yourself. The first couple of times I found this practice to be mildly annoying, but it's their rules and the were otherwise friendly and accomodating.

I've used them a couple of times and I just list at the gate, fill out a J/S form and checked in with the crew.

US Airways is GREAT to jumpseat on. Just remember to not bring up the question about the senority list merger with America West and US Air. There is a non-rev # of 1 (800) 325-9999. Just listen to the prompts. Some agents get all bent out of shape if you don't list for non-rev listing. If you didn't list just tell the agent you were on hold for a very long time. Also, bring treats, ie.. candy, cookies for the F/A's and it make them happy. I actually had a Captain get on the PA and thank me for his favorite candies that I gave the crew. Good luck

The only trick is that you have to try to guess in advance which side of the "issue" to take...choose poorly and you will be walking!

Look for telltale hints such as cactus-themed badge and luggage paraphernalia and Eagles spirit gear

Note: This is humor and I appreciate how serious the whole thing is for everyone involved.

Sometimes they bring it up. I caught a ride on them a few years ago. I went to the flight deck and said "how's it going?" (as in hello, how are you today?) and got an earful on how two diffent pilot groups, working for one airline, were being paid two different rates to fly the same airplane, The guy with higher rate has only been here XX years, etc. Next time I ride on them, I guess I'll just stick with a simple "hello."

Once the rant was over, the captain was very accomadating, and I was welcomed aboard. The FA's have even bumped myself and my wife to first a few times. Proceedures for express are the same.

FYI,
Flight numbers below 699 are West crews
Flight numbers 700 and above are East crews
