It doesn't seem like a complete zero-sum game to me -- SWA can expand its network into ATL while DAL continues to do well.

As a Citrus 737 Driver, I'm pretty excited about the potential that this acquisition brings.

We are concerned. It would be stupid not to be.

And I'm sure you are happy. I would be too. But it would be equally stupid to get overconfident.

Personally, I think this may be a mistake. I think it will hurt Delta, because AAI was going along with ancillary fees and LUV isn't. AAI is a low-cost airline, and LUV isn't. If an airline has the potential to turn a market on tis' head, it's certainly LUV. Then again, if an airline has the potential to put an unflattering light on the fluff in the LUV model, it's DAL. It would be AMR in Texas, but LUV deosn't dare compete with them on their turf.

The days of poaching secondary hubs, and poaching weak airlines have come to an end. LUV may be feeling full of enthusiasm, but it is taking a big, big risk. I understand why the employees find confidence in their past record, but you know what they say about past results and future performance.

I think the point of this board is to discuss the industry, & not just ones respective airline. ;)

I'm sure you've never commented on a thread that wasn't directly related to SWA.

Just out of curiousity, I noticed that as a moderator you let the post stand above calling another airline a "junk" airline. Is that acceptable?

I wonder what they are thinking in Tempe, AZ about this?

AtlCSIP 09-27-2010 06:21 AM

Gary just said on a webcast that the integration would be one certificate based out of Dallas.

Geez - Listening to Gary Kelly in the press conference as I'm typing - he's talking even more about aggressive Atlanta expansion from AirTran's existingn footprint, and international service.

He's definitely not somebody to be over-confident or even aggressive with regards to growth. I think he means it.

DFW will discontinue, that's it.

Air Tran was hiring...

I have my application in at Air Tran. Anybody have an idea of what may happen with the guys and gals hired in the last couple of weeks and the ones who were hoping to get hired?

Did you report it? What's the post #? Posts are coming fast on this thread because I didn't see it.

Edit: I see your report. It will be addressed. Thank you.

Post #63, called AAI a "junk airline" ... I chose to ignore it.
