Question Terrorist fixation on aviation-- will it end?

Hello all,

I'm concerned with the recently discovered plot to bomb a dozen airliners out of the sky, that these bums are not giving up on attempts to devastate air travel.

They only have to succeed at killing 100 people to create mass panic in world air travel. They didn't give up in attacking the WTC towers, and it looks like Sept 11 wasn't good enough for them, either.

Does anyone think that the terrorists won't succeed in taking down another airliner by things that go "boom"? Or are we done seeing successful attacks downing large airliners?

I'm overall an optimistic person, but am troubled and concerned that while we're sitting here slap happy about the recovering airlines, the bums in dirty night shirts are out there plotting to take down the next American B-737 or Northwest B-747-400.

And I'm beginning to believe that they will eventually succeed again. These men are very patient, and very persistent.

Hoping to God I'm wrong, of course. Thoughts?

Yes it will happen again. Think that is scary. Bin Laden's goal is to explode a nuclear device in the United States. You remember where you where on 9-11, imagine where you are when we retaliate and nuke a large portion of the Middle East.

Well, you can thank Iraq for them coming after us. Without the invasion they would be camping out in the Middle East with their donkeys. We stirred the hornets nest alright.

Iraq? Very short sighted I think! Perhaps a review of history might help you. Pam-Am 103, World Trade Center garage bombing, Marine barracks- Kobar Towers, USS Stark, a couple north african US embassies, oh and you remember 9-11 World Trade Center Destruction all ocurred prior to Iraq being spanked for violating 13 UN resolutions.

It's funny how everybody thinks President Bush was lying about WMD in Iraq, yet just 5 years earlier everybody believed that lying sack of dung Clinton when Iraq was refusing UN inspectors.

Bubblemonkey:

Just a question, not attacking you but, why would anybody believe there were WMD? The President admitted there weren't any. He said the intelligence he was given was bad, right?

I completely agree!! Anyone who believes Bush lied about WMD is a hypocrit. They had WMD is 1998. They had WMD in the 80's when Saddam killed 50,000 of his own people. Any hard core liberal will tell you the US sold Iraq WMD when they were at war with Iran. So what happened to them? Did they just disappear??? They are probably burried somewhere in the sand in Iraq, or in some other country (Iran, Syria...)

I really disagree about the whole hypocrite(correct spelling) thing. The type of alleged WMD that led us into this war were of the "mushroom cloud" variety, as I remember it. If it were about the variety of which you speak, we'd have at least another 99 sovereign countries to invade, as N Korea and Iran watch with pleasure. I do not wish to attack your opinion, just stimulate your mind past all of the BS that CNN and fox feed you to espouse compliance instead of inquiry. The war is where we are. IMHO, it was a major f*ck up. Hundreds of billions of dollars that should have been used to shore up security of Americans in America, esp airline, border and port security. Before you call me a liberal, which would be inaccurate but wouldn't bother me, please know that I have 19 years military service, over 3 in Afghanistan and Iraq. As someone who has actually completed Air War College and various other military institutions, this war's strategy is fatally flawed. 130,000 troops is not nearly enough to police and transform a country the size of Iraq. We ,the USA not coalition, committed just over 500,000 to push Saddam out of Kuwait. Has anyone even looked at a map of the middle-east. If you have you'll see the proximity of our major hospitals and bases in Iraq and their position relative Iranian missile sights. Strategically, we can't do anything to Iran without mass casualties to our troops in Iraq, not opinion basic military tactics/strategy. As an American officer, my primary allegiance is to my troops and my country. To be totally honest, the cruel treatment of the Kurds was horrible, but not worth one drop of American blood. The situation in Sudan and Rwanda weren't either evidently. We have become a nation of "sheople", just following the anchors on fox or CNN. We are in a world of sh#t, and everybody wants their team to be right. This is not a liberal or conservative war, it's and American one. Practically no one in any of our 3 branches of government has a child on the ground in this war. American lives and futures are being ruined, and we're debating whether to "stay the course" or "cut and run" because we want our side to be right? Neither is acceptable, and somehow it has become un-American to say so. And we are worse off than we were on 9/12/2001. I know many won't see the connection between WMD and the war.....that's disturbing.

Smoke and Mirrors anyone?

The current administration are professionals in that category.

This is the longest occupation (Iraq is not a War. . . no Congressional authorization for war was asked for, or given. Merely authorization to use "military force.") of a country where no Congressional oversight has happened. Very sad that we have allowed our government to lose it's own integrity.
