Default Vacation recommendation

Thanks for letting me post a self-indulgent thread....

Ms. HSLD and I are planning a vacation, she wants "hot and beachy" for an early Feb. Vacation. I'm thinking south of BKK although the bookings are pretty strong. Maybe GCM?

Looking for deals, and ease of travel. Any suggestions for places off the beaten path that we should try?

I'm not sure of the loads, and may not be hot enough for you, but the experience, expense, and beauty make Vietnam an excellent choice. There are several beach resorts (I stayed for three days at one that started with an F) that were beautiful, cheap (less than $80/day w/brkfst) in Da Nang. New, immaculate golf courses for $60 / round with all female caddies. Great time. Da Nang is about half way between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

If you and the Mrs. are adventurous you might look into this place:

Palau Hotel Resort - Palau Pacific Resort - Palau Pacific 5 Star Resort Hotel

Air Mike ( or whatever it's called these days ) serves Palau via Guam. Not sure if anyone else goes there yet.

As far as south of BKK, Phuket or Koh Samui would be nice and there are lots of other little places nearby to those that are just as good if not better. It's a long way from the States though so time zone change makes the trip less enjoyable.

For the best value, take a cruise. Nothing like 5 star accommodations and service while waking-up in a different city/country every day. Both the Caribbean and the Pacific/Asia have great deals in February.

Grand Cayman would be ideal if you are interested in scuba diving. You can get your open-water PADI certification in just a few days.

Wife & I enjoyed RIU Palace in Punta Cana. All inclusive 5 star resort, & got the best room offered at the resort(a nice suite with a upper balcony hot tub overlooking the ocean) for 4 nights for $1000 off perx.com. That was the total cost for both of us.

Might want to take a look.
