Default FDX C/O w/ Vacation

This hasn't been asked before.

So, hypothetically, you fail bidding for March and have a trip beginning on April 1st (DH on a Sunday, week-long pairing, ending on Friday), with vacation beginning on April 2nd.

The c/o trip has already been "dropped" due to vacation (approx 30 hours) during the March window. No slide during the March window.

Looking at the April Bid, would like to maximize days off, but not have 60-70 hours of vacation this month (48 - 52 hours is ok). In a perfect world, off until the 15th.

Now, if I bid a line that is hub-turns, week-on/week-off, with the 1st week and 3rd week ON, are the trips dropped during the 1st week go into make-up or is it vacation (effectually costing me 12 hours per day versus the usual six).

Union has different answer than Company. Anyone have first-hand experience with this scenario?

Company: any trip touching vacation will go as vacation

Union: similar to carry-in conflict, if you didn't have vacation, the new line would be dropped due to cic, as such, even if there is vacation, it will go into make-up

Anyone??

Happened to me, union is correct. You can't fly on a day they are already paying you vacation pay for. Time goes into priority make up.

You should get PMU for the days of vacation that overlap and get vacation for the days that don't touch.

That statement made everything about as clear as MUD.

If you have a conflict in APR that whole trip is in conflict.

Example1: Vacation starts Apr2 for 7 days. In Mar you had c/o trip ending on Apr2 worth 12 hrs total. Vacation bank is docked 12 hrs. In Apr you bid a trip that starts on Apr2 worth 36 hrs. The 36hrs goes into makeup. That trip is considered in conflict with the trip from the previous bid month even though you did't fly it because of vacation. Vacation bank is still only docked 12 hrs.

Example2: Same c/o trip and Vacation. 12 hrs docked from vacation bank. In Apr you are awarded a trip starting on Apr4 for 36 hrs. An additional 36hrs will be docked from vacation bank because there is no conflict.

Example3: Worst case - you bid a secondary line in Apr. The remaining vacation days are charged to your vacation bank and you have those days off. No options.

Example4: You bid a Reserve line in Apr. R days in conflict with c/o trip are dropped. R days in conflict with remaining vacation days are charged towards vacation. You can also protect min days off and request which R days you want charged against your vacation bank that are not in conflict.

.. hope this helps

I would call my Futures person and have them look at it.

I asked them several months ago with this situation: week long C/O with week long trip in the new month that conflicts with it. Vacation in the new month conflicted too. They said the trips in the new month that conflict with the C/O go into M/U as if you don't have VAC and then VAC rules apply. I hope that helps.

Good thing this was only a hypothetical situation.

I had a futures person tell me the same thing as knightflyer.
