Default DAL DTW seniority/schedules

Long-time listener, first-time caller ....

Looking at coming off MLOA and live in the DTW area. I've heard DTW is a relatively junior base and is mostly commuters ... true?

If true, do 1- and 2-day trips go pretty junior?

Thanks for your help ... been out of the loop a pretty long time.

Generally those lines will go to senior local guys. I looked at the DTW bid awards and they are spread out in the top 1/3 of the ER and 320. In SLC the 1 and 2 day trips generally go to the #1 and #2 guys in the FO's categories. I generally try to bid 1 or 2 days to cut my night away from home.

May 2001 hire ... Not exactly sure what I could hold but I'm guessing middle DC9 to junior A320? I would bid QOL over pay. Thanks.

Too bad you have to make that choice.....

Longevity based pay..... think about it.

But with longevity based pay, you don't get a choice to chase the money or let others chase the money so you can chase a better QOL. So it ends up taking longer for people to get QOL since there is no advantage to upgauge for pay.

Not enough experience to make a judgement, but it seems like there is something to be said for the choice of QOL over pay.

Pay + QOL = employee costs. One or the other rising would seem to require an offset.

That depends upon where you are on the list, how long it took you to upgrade, and what your upgrade projection looks like. It's really very different for different groups.

FAIL. Upgauging for pay is a myth that can be taken away when the price of oil goes to $150/bbl. Then a lot of people lose. There are only 16 airplanes at the top of the scale anyway.... for now.. and none on order. With the MD90s coming, why not get more guys making more money instead of waiting for a mythical bass ring... If the money is taken out of the equation, there is ONLY QOL... and that might actually mean something different to someone else. A more senior guy flying downguage might give a younger guy the opportunity to fly the 747 while he can still enjoy the long flights, rather than having to bounce up and down on the DC9 all day... more options mean better QOL.. not less.

And just to address your post more directly... With LBP, you don't have to make the choice to sacrifice your QOL for money.. nor depend on others to make that choice to affect your QOL in a positive manner. Less variables in an equation make the result much simpler

Welcome back! I'd suggest that you go on Deltanet> Crew Resources and Scheduling>Bid Awards>Wide Reports, and take a look at the trips that your seniority will hold. For domestic trips, you may need to cross-reference the trip number in iCrew to see the specifics of the trips.
