Default AMR Recall Process?

I appears that AA is still recalling furloughed pilots and bringing on Eagle Flow Through Pilots. AApilots web site shows 43 were in class for the month of February.
My questions are:
What is the callback number that was last announced for this year (250?) and how many pilots to date have they placed in class?
How many more Eagle FT pilots need to be call before the furloughed list is offered recall? Very confusing Thanks for any insight.

Lots of questions, some you answer yourself. I suggest that you go to the furlough forum of C+R and ask there. That is the best place for answers to your questions.

The aribitrated flowthroughs from Eagle will all be done by the end of May. Then, if they continue recalls at the current pace, the furlough list will probably be drained rather quickly ("everyone" seems to be saying by year's end, give or take a few months). Then another couple hundred at Eagle have numbers (at the bottom of the list) and then "off the street" with Eagle getting 1 of every 2 of the first 1648 slots (a total of 824 "preferential hiring" slots to Eagle).

Does anyone really believe that AA will be recalling then hiring that many pilots? You need high-percentage growth or large attrition for that. AA has neither. After December 2012, then those *&^$wipes that should have retired at 60 will be forced to retire, but it won't be huge numbers, maybe 15-20/month. So, after Jan 2013, expect some movement. Until then, I see nothing but stagnation.

Based on AMR's growth plans for the next 5 years - yes, they really will need to recall and hire soon. Snap shot of today - AMR is pretty badly undermanned. With the planned capacity increases this year alone, they are setting up to be WAY undermanned - hence the recalls. They are also anticipating needing more pilots for the FAA duty time proposals as well as gearing up for a pretty big exodus starting in the next two years.

AMR has A LOT of catching up to do in routes/aircraft orders. They are just waiting for the 3 labor contracts to be settled before unleashing it.

Yes, AA will be hiring by next spring. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of guys go before the next market correction.

What is the general attitude of the FA group over at AA? It seems that APA has started to come around and be more realistic with their negotiations. The TWU might be headed that way as well, but the APFA seems to be just as militant as they ever were. They have the least to lose... which is scary.

Most of the FA's I fly with don't have a clue about what's going on, much less what they want out of a new contract. Not sure what they will be able to accomplish since the NMB has so far refused to release them. Same with the TWU.

Default APFA and EX-TWA FA's

This is an excerpt from a recent APFA briefing about the most recent board meeting and side LOA to allow 30 Chinese speakers to be hired off the street before recalling furloughs

At this meeting, Laura Glading (was) informed of some back door negotiations by 2 former TWA F/A's with their Senator and Congressman from Missouri. Tim Hunter STL Chair was present at the meeting and spoke to the issue of pursuing this for quite some time with Sen. McCaskill MO, and vowing to continue until all former TWA FAs receive their seniority.. The BOD had no knowledge of such discussions until this meeting. In a nutshell, the Senator agreed to support the amendment to the FAA Reauthorization bill, proposed by Tim Hunter STL Chair, that would provide Seniority Integration language. The Senator garnered support from Congressman Carnahan MO, who in turn contacted Laura Glading and made her aware of the amendment. Laura told Carnahan that we could come to an agreement internally to provide protection for the furloughlees in the form of an extension of the recall rights. She asked the company to extend recall rights and the company wanted to be able to hire 30 Mandarin speakers for the LAX-I Shanghi routes. We were told if Laura secured this agreement, Congressman Carnahan would ensure that the amendment to the FAA Authorization Bill, granting the TWA F/A's their full seniority, would not be added. Plain and simple, it was blackmail!

I have to wonder if there any TWA pilots pursuing similar objectives. If there are, the cat’s out of the bag…

I thought I read somewhere that AA is having a reduction in capacity this summer. I will need to find where I read that info.
