I'm wondering if it is set up and scored in such a way that you need to get a certain number of the math questions correct in order to continue on to the personality section because I don't see how it's possible to do all of it in just 45 mins. Anyone else know or care to share?

I also just took the assessment test ! It sure did take a lot more than 45 min
However my question is did anyone get an email sayin that you have completed the assessment? My test ended and I guess u could say it logged me off but I didn't receive anything saying the test is complete. So I guess I am a little confused when I went to try and log back in and give it my session id number it would deny me... anyone have any ideas besides I prob messed up.....

AUtigerpilot 04-13-2011 05:25 AM

Not so much "math," more logic and reasoning.

Took about 60 minutes. Definitely have a quiet place and some paper for the 1st section.

cmrflyer 04-13-2011 05:31 AM

No, it just carries straight on the 200+ questions.

When I finished it I got a screen that said "Thanks, your application has been received" or something along those lines.

gooneybird_71 04-13-2011 10:30 AM

Your thoughts everyone I submitted 2 different apps with 2 different email's. I received. Two assessments should I do both of them or just one? Just wondering if it will double my chances.

I was about to question 48 or so out of the 65 and it went blank and no response, then I tried to log back in and the assessment link is no longer there....????

i wasn't able to finish, it just stopped, should I apply with a different email also?

SG1159 04-15-2011 08:03 AM

ANYONE??

Just curious- I have just applied again, and immediately received the link for the assessment.... Is this the new way things are done, or does this mean something good is happening?? Last time I applied, it took several months to get the link for the assessment....

Fred Flintstone 04-15-2011 09:42 AM

Sorry guys. HR isn't talking, and obviously there is a change to the process. Those of us already on board do not have access to the application process. I'm not going to reapply and wind up junior to myself if I'm lucky enough to get noticed a second time!

PurpleCRJ 04-16-2011 12:39 AM

just applied and did the online assessment immediately. same thing with logic q's and personality questions. some of those logic q's were pretty tricky; i had an answer selected but didn't hit "next" until the time ran out a couple times. hope i got the selected answer in for a chance.

neosporin, I think that is a point where it shifts back to "agree, strongly agree, . . ." questions for the last 15 or so. there was a tech support ph. # in the email : 1-888-401-2236. Start with that if you're still unsure.

Thanks, I didn't get an email concerning this at all. I applied when it opened and then a week later I logged in to check and the assessment was there.

I did get a call from HR and asked if I had a question about the Provisor....cool I guess, she said it was complete, but apparently it goes to some outside source and is evaluated.

After completing the assessment and hitting the "submit" key, it said something like "Thank you for submitting your application", or something to that effect.

PurpleCRJ 04-17-2011 02:30 PM

Does anyone know how long it takes to find out if you passed the online assessment?

Hopefully next week. It may depend upon if you drive a red car, and live in Ohio?

This was posted last December from another VX thread. A few days to several weeks to hear something. My best guess would be since they have not been interviewing the last few months, and just opened up the application window last weekend that we may hear something sooner rather than later, but that may also be wishful thinking on my part as well. Just have to wait and see!!!

PurpleCRJ 04-17-2011 03:29 PM

I drive a bicycle and live in San Francisco. So, I'm probably the last person VX would look at. God forbid there be a pilot who doesn't have to commute. :)

:)

Actually, I have a feeling you are right about sooner rather than later. I won't be surprised to hear Monday. . . . crossing my fingers.

fender1 04-17-2011 07:38 PM

I've been trying for 8 months and finally got the assessment too. Maybe they are sending the assessment out to everyone now as part of the early elimination rounds.

Thought about that too but don't want to believe it. Anyone hear pass/fail on the assessment yet?

OnTheRun 04-18-2011 11:14 AM

I just went in to update my resume that has been in there for 5 months and this assessment test showed up. At least most of the 'Test' is not pass or fail. Safe to say those type of problem solving questions have nothing to do with flying.

OnTheRun 04-18-2011 11:16 AM

"Captain the left engine is shut down and the other is on fire. What should we do?"

"Give more training to Karl because he did not meet his sale goals the last 2 out of 3 months."

Sounds good to me!!

CE750 04-19-2011 01:37 PM

Is VX looking for pilots or doctorate candidates?

Neosporin 04-19-2011 01:59 PM

so has anyone heard how do you know if you have been accepted past the assessment? other than the obvious phone for an interview........?

No clue, but after looking over each question I'd say score was in the 90's on that first part.

fender1 04-20-2011 08:30 AM

Do you often perceive youself as a success, always doing better than others?
- Strongly Disagree
- Disagree
- Neutral
- Agree

- STRONGLY AGREE

Maybe if you can't finish the USA Today crossword puzzle, jumble, and soduku between SFO and LAX, then you're not VX material. Hahaha.

LifeStyler 04-26-2011 04:14 PM

Probably a dumb question...

Are all of you VX hopefuls checking the status page on your career application on the Virgin website? Does anyone have anything in the "Action" field? I have heard from a friend in training there that until the assessment gets back to HR from the contract company, nothing at all can be done, and they eliminate those they feel are not "Virgin Material" (Never thought that would be a pilot requirement!)... so we will only hear from VX if A) the off-site shrinks like what they saw in the assessment, AND B) the HR department decides to call... there are no "NO" responses, only maybes

Arrgh! I sure would like to at least know they will tell me they are not interested.

I am still trying to find answers to that myself from friends there.

hey out there....news???

C-130Driver 06-02-2011 08:13 AM

Question for some current Virgin pilots. Waste of time to apply if you don't have 5,000 hours total? I've heard that the PIC time requirement is negotiable but not the total time amount. That sounds totally backwards to me; would think the PIC time would be much more important? Thoughts? Military airlift IP with Approx 3,500 hours, 1500PIC. At this rate I'll be a retired LtCol before I reach 5,000 hours.

mxracr 06-02-2011 10:59 AM

If your looking for a job, applying is never a waste of time. At 3500 tt, you are most likely a long shot, to be honest. However, one of the best attractions for an applicant is the fast upgrades. That appears to be probably a thing of the past. Who knows, but looks like more of a 3-4 year plan. Still getting planes, but the bigger the company gets the more planes required to double the size. Double size or attricion (sp) is required for a new hire to upgrade.

About par for a backwards operation. You'd be a better fit for Alaska and we're spooling up for interview boards for spring classes.

C-130Driver 06-02-2011 12:55 PM

Ok, thanks for the thoughts guys.

4andCounting 06-04-2011 02:39 AM

I believe that we offer a multiplier for military pilots. I think its .3, somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I see if I can email around and verify this. Either way I would apply. It can't hurt. Good luck and thank you for your service.

P.S. fish, wonderfully helpful post. Your a real class act.

I have a friend who told me that his application has been taken "offline". I don't know how he knows that. Maybe he can't log in to update or something. Can you shed some light on this?? Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure he meant the job posting expired.

Come on. Somebody has to know something from somebody. Someone's aunt's uncle's friend's niece has to work in HR. Interviews? Emails? Anything?

cmrflyer 06-07-2011 06:07 AM

No interviews until August.
A lot of new hires in training at the moment, 20 guys waiting in the pool.
