VX applying question

On the Virgin America info it says they are hiring. I go to the career opportunities and am unable to locate First officer under the list of jobs.
Do you just upload a profile or do you apply directly to the pilot position.

tcaphou 03-19-2011 07:03 AM

You apply directly. There is a list of "qualifying questions". If you answer "no" to any of them, it politely thanks you for your time.

clipperskipper 03-19-2011 07:34 AM

I don't think Pilot is currently posted at VX?

Neosporin 03-21-2011 06:30 AM

anyone have any idea when that position will be available online to apply?

k200 03-21-2011 07:56 AM

How are the interviews going?

CHAIRMAN 03-22-2011 11:06 AM

Interviews to resume in April 3 sessions a month

AUtigerpilot 03-22-2011 04:24 PM

I applied last December and have updated once. Went back to update today and it doesn't show any submittals.

What gives?

Funny site, although I was able to log in and make changes. VX is my goal for the Fall, all things willing.

fender1 03-23-2011 04:47 PM

You'll need to wait until a pilot position is available to apply. Sometimes the posting themselves expire and even with an app in, you may need to apply again. That's hapenned to me before. Good-luck getting a call. I'm still trying.

blackdog 03-23-2011 05:54 PM

Window?

Is there any Virgin American pilots out there that can tell me if my profile and resume are current if I did not update my resume and data within the window period. I had my on line data there within 6 months. No calls.

Is there another window approaching soon?

Don't know of a way to check to see if your profile is updated. However given the planned growth over the next eight years and that interviews and hiring is planned for the foreseeable future, I am sure the application window will reopen shortly. Interviews begin again in April and the plan is three interview sessions per month indefinitely.

Good luck.

blackdog 03-24-2011 08:12 AM

Thanks, I will update my resume in my profile. Hope I get a call!!

Indefinitely? Wishful thinking at its best!

OnTheRun 03-27-2011 04:34 PM

Does Virgin have a written test as part of the interview process?

Thanks!

Thanks!

There is a short test during the interview day with about 20 or so questions from the ATP test bank. No questions where you'd have to do any calculating, just multiple choice.

Neosporin 03-30-2011 06:13 AM

Spooled or NEdude, any idea when the app online may open up?
cheers!

sandstorm 03-30-2011 06:57 AM

Just curious... I applied towards the end of last year and then received an email and link to take the online questionnaire. This was maybe 4 months ago. What's the next step in the process? Do they call right away for an interview? Have I been flushed if I haven't heard by now? Do I need to apply again?

Showing your ignorance again fish dude. 'Indefinite' does not mean 'forever'.

Here - get yourself a small bit of knowledge, it is amazing what learning will do for you once you leave fishfreighter land:Dictionary and Thesaurus - Merriam-Webster Online

Definition of INDEFINITE : not definite: as

a : typically designating an unidentified, generic, or unfamiliar person or thing <the indefinite articles a and an> <indefinite pronouns>

b
: not precise : vague

c
: having no exact limits

indefinite noun
in·def·i·nite·ly adverb
in·def·i·nite·ness noun

In other words - They have not defined a time period of when they expect that level of interviewing to stop.

Nice backpedal. That's not what you meant and you know it.

OnTheRun 03-31-2011 09:29 AM

Airlines should only call you for a interview if you know someone that already flies there. After all there is no way you could be a good pilot and employee unless someone their knows you. People that just apply off the street are totally incompetent.

Every industry works that way. It's not what you know, it's who you know. That's why you never ever burn bridges.

Fish is difficult to follow, do you walk to school, or carry your lunch fish?

when do you get the "qualifying questions"?

I applied but there were no questions?

To the guys having their apps disappear: Sorry there is no info from HR on this, and those of us here have no access to the application web pages. My only suggestion to you is to start over if your app has vanished.

All I can say is they tell us interviews are resuming and hiring continues.

As for the "qualifying questions" issue, unless there is a change in the process it works like this: 1. Apply online. 2. If your app is chosen you get sent to an online assessment. 3. Assessment results are (A) put in pool for possible interview or (B) a thanks for playing notice.

Yes, a recommendation from within helps but is no guarantee of passing the online assessment or getting an interview. It just gets you in the take a closer look pile.

The online assessment has changed several times. Your best bet is having someone taking it recently to help by posting their opinions about it.

Has anyone taken the assessment recently? I heard it once consisted of word math problems. Is this still true?

Thanks

$110.24 this evening, approaching July 2008 numbers, we all know what happened then....at least we're making a bundle (ENPIX) on it.

Umm, not quite new news. At the July 2010 "All Hands" meeting we were told of only 4 firm deliveries for 2012. There were options of up to a total of 12 aircraft for delivery in 2012, but there no decision on exercising those additional options. This was reaffirmed in the January 2011 "All Hands" meeting, and once again in March.

Well, there go those Capt. upgrades everyone was counting on. That's the funny thing about orders/options. You never really know until the aircraft is on the ramp AND the maintenance logs are inside.

Until then its all just wishing. I remember when jetBlue was telling their pilots and the press that they would have 200 jets in 5 years. Oops.

That's why it was amusing when the VXers all got excited about the 80 prospective orders Sir Dick announced.

Keep dreaming, boys.

Fish doing what he does best. The prognosticator of the obvious when it comes to the price of a barrel of oil and how it affects business. Duh!!!!!! Please Fish, say something remotely intelligent that doesn't lean on your same old threads.

Help! I finally received the email today to take the assessment. I applied last Summer and have been updating monthly since then. The instructions in the email say it will take approx 45 mins, and to plan accordingly for no distractions while taking it. I've reviewed all the threads on APC regarding VX and the assessment, and there seems to have been several different versions. As the above poster asked a few days ago, has anyone taken it recently in the past few months? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

I just logged on to the Virgin website and noticed the pilot app is up again

I applied to it or submitted my profile again, and it immediately wanted me to take this assessment, anyone made it through that yet? you get 3 minutes to answer a question and its like a pick the best answer based on the above references. anyone else do that?

I took the assessment and it was just like that. The email instructions said it would take approx 45 mins. It took me a lot longer then that. I was not sure how I did, and then after the math part another section popped up with 200+ personality/situation type questions. I'm wondering if it is set up and scored in such a way that you need to get a certain number of the math questions correct in order to continue on to the personality section because I don't see how it's possible to do all of it in just 45 mins. Anyone else know or care to share?
