4th hand internet info, but the hiring coordinator was quoted recently as saying he expects flowups this year, but hiring could go either way.

I fear this flow is going to slow off the street hiring till 2013
20 per month and 8 or 9 per month from mesaba
with the restrictions the max number for 2012 flow will be around 200 or so
then you have the people who know the people who will be hired first.
I hope they give credit for people who have been to 3 of their job fairs............

Hey guys,

Looking at AE on the I Crew site. When looking at number of " pilots who hold a preference for a specific category who are senior to you", does that include folks who are already in the seat ? Any other info on that particular link would be appreciated.

Regards,
BG

I was gonna ask that same question. I seem to remember on the last AE people were talking about how worthless that function was. I could be mistaken as to what they were talking about though.

To my knowledge it does.

Me and a senior buddy played with it one time and did just that with him bidding his own category and it increased by 1 then he deleted it and it was back to the original number.

So I think it does but its worth playing with again to see.

Don't forget, any hiring plans after November 2011 will force the hand of most of the 243 furlough bypass types to return or resign.

The more I think about it, you know the problem with that whole "Number of pilots senior to you with AE for [ ]" is that you have no idea if they're bidding %s.

And whether its their first, second or third pref isn't going to help you as people may have a myriad of dream bids in long before they get to what they probably really want right now or could hold right now.

I think when I AE'd from NYC 7ER to ATL 7ER there were only 10 vacancies and like 70 people ahead of me that wanted ATL 7ER B. Beer might remember better the exact numbers but I bid it and held it with people below me.

QUESTION! if you want to stay in your current base/category do you need to have a bid in at all except a MD bid in case of the unspeakable?

Also, Do you need your current base/category in a bid somewhere?
