Things change fast in this industry. Everyone on all the forums might tell you that airline x will not hire for 2 years, and airline z is hiring 80 per month for foreseeable future - both fact can be wrong in a week.

Best advice - watch it and apply with all of them as soon as the windows open. Go to career fairs. Work on your brains, flying, manners, positive attitude and social skills. Also learn to look good - dirty, old shoes and wrong sized, wrinkled shirts turn off recruiters fast.

Can we get a list of Majors that are hiring in 2012. Airlines/numbers of new hires (projected of course).

Here we go predicting the future again.
Where were you guys when I was choosing my first airline?

They'll all hire unless they don't:cool:

NOT US Air. Word from the schoolhouse is that we're all done until 2013. That means no more recalls or new-hires

I know on the west the remaining 737-300s will be replaced by new A321s by December. They don't intend on increasing capacity with the larger aircraft so that means the schedule will be reduced, meaning less flying, hence less crews. I think the east has 40-50 737s left and they will be replaced by new Airbi by 2013-14. Good for the company and customers, blows if you want to get hired.

Spirit. Current plan is 2 classes a month for the foreseeable future...

That is if we manage to actually secure financing for all the airplane we "WANT"...

Yeah thats why I responded.

He didn't say Legacy or LCC either.

What do you consider a major airline?

Dont be an a$$ just to be an a$$...;)

The Majors forum is intended for Legacy, National, & LCC airlines.

Actually my bet is that AA will either hire, furlough or both in 2012. How's that for insight?

The VP of flight says they'll hire off the street in maybe a year, but he also thought there would be a contract by last winter and still says there will be a contract this fall.

All things considered, nobody knows. All else is a WAG.

Gotcha- btw, I consider major to be the Legacy's, Southwest, Alaska, Airtran, Hawaiian, and Jetblue. I, as well as many others, consider Spirit, Allegiant, Skybus (when around) and Virgin America as startup LCCs. Sorry. No offense intended.
