What about United? I know they have a ton of guys on furlough but are being recalled because of the merger? I've been out of the loop a long time with them...so be easy on me

The Majors forum is intended for Legacy, National, & LCC airlines.

Thanks-apparently the National and LCC category disappeared the last few days and is now under Majors. Why did this happen? There were a few unique Spirit, Virgin America, and Allegiant threads there that have seemed to vanish.

WOW!!!
That's some interpretation on your part!
Southwest as a "Legacy"?!
AirTran as a "Legacy"?!
Better yet, jetBlue as a "LEGACY"?! That was sarcasm right?

And sorry, but Spirit is not a "start up".

I think you might want to brush off your aviation history books, and look at the definitions of "legacy" and "major" airline.

No offense intended.

Then you and many others would be wrong. Skybus and VA sure, but Spirit and Allegiant have been around long enough to not be considered start ups. Just because you never heard of them before, doesn't mean they are new.

Your reading comprehension is a bit off. Read my post again slowly. I consider the major category.....Legacy, Southwest, Alaska, etc etc. Following me yet? Besides, up until 2 days ago, there was a separate National/Startup category where ALL the Spirit, Virgin America, and Allegiant posts were located.

I haven't moved them. I guess VA still ends up under Upstart. Not sure about Allegiant. They should be in Majors too.

Lets get a list going of hiring speculation for 2012. Cut and paste if you have updates/changes:

United/Continental (Recalling currently, hiring 2012?)
Delta (120 flowthroughs in 1Q2012?)
American (Recalling currently, hiring spring/mid 2012?)
USAir (Done hiring until 2013)
Alaska (App window opens soon, classes start Dec, 382 pilots over next 3 yrs)
Hawaiian (?)
Southwest (?)
Jetblue (250-300 newhires/year for the forseeable future)
Spirit (Hiring)
Allegiant (?)
Virgin America (?)
Frontier (?)
FedEx (Hiring 2012, numbers?)
UPS (?)

Where's the upstart category?

Ok. I see now. Although you didn't specify major "category" in that post.
(Alaska and Hawaiian are "Legacies" BTW.)

I've been following the Spirit posts for quite awhile on the "Major" category...?

But did I read correctly that you consider Spirit a "start up"?, but not jetBlue?
If I did, I stand by my statement of looking in the history books...
