It always amazes me when Apple users get so excited about stuff other platforms have been doing forever. Apple designs cool products, but it may be the epitome of marketing over substance. If you don't have an iPhone, you don't have an iPhone....... This reminds me of when we were in the shower and you were telling me you had shrinkage and that it wasn't size but how you used it. It's like that now, you coming up with excuses why you don't have an iPhone:cool: Just kidding bud, you know Iz lovez ya, ya big lug:D |

The beauty of iPubs is that someone else is doing all the work and all you do is push "sync" and all your pubs are up to date. The innovation here is the work the individuals behind the scenes at iPubs are putting in to make this happen, that's what makes this so cool. Cheers George |

iPhone would not exist without 3Com, Palm, Handspring. I've been looking at my schedule on my phone for at least 10 years, what do I win?
Well, dogs have been able to lick themselves for hundreds or years now, so I think they may have us all beat. |

Dude, (since you abide;-) its not about putting PDFs on the device, thats been possible for a long time on many mobile devices including Apples.

Cheers George Now, when I got my iPad a few weeks ago I figured I'd be updating my pubs on it anyway, so why not volunteer to be the 737 guy on iPubs. I keep things current for myself and anyone else that wants to use it. The feedback from users and the fleet guys is being shared with the Delta 4th floor people to go with the EFB study. Hopefully it helps speed up a solution and ease the implementation. This from the iPubs website: How iPubs Works With iPubs every Delta pilot who participates will have push button update capability. An administrator, or Fleet Jedi, will manage a folder containing fleet specific files, regularly mirroring the files from the Delta server. This folder ( i777, iM89, i747, etc ) will be shared so you can sync directly from your iPad. Four other shared folders, iPlane, iPath, iPeople, and iALPA will be maintained. These folders will contain files applicable to all pilots; fleet common files like the FOM and the contract. iPubs uses GoodReader on the iPad as a file manager and viewer. SugarSync is used as the server for storing the iPubs shared folders containing the master files. Goodreader can be setup on the iPad to point directly to the iPubs shared folders. To have a complete iPubs library, be sure to join your fleet folder, all three iPPP folders and iALPA (about 1.5GB for all five). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, iPubs is set up to use SugarSync and GoodReader to do its thing. As GoodReader is for the iPad and iPhone it won't work on Android based tablets or phones but there might be another product that will work. As far as I know SugarSync works with Android and that's where iPubs' files reside. So if there is a reader for Android that can do what GoodReader does for the iPad then it should work just fine. Would love to have a volunteer get in touch with the iPubs Administrator (email address on iPubs site) and work out the Android solution. This isn't about iPad versus Android. It's about an easy way to keep pubs current. |

Hey George and all,
I have spent a few minutes (2 hours to be exact) on this iPUBS. I have successfully downloaded everything but IALPA and 756..Few minutes into the download the server konks out. I have even erased the "botched" IALPA and 756 to redo it and still get the "i756/ Failed:Invalid server response: HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable" message.. HELP!! TEN |
