The last new hire class was in Sept 2001 and that class hasn't been recalled yet.
I don't know the hire date of the most junior person on property is currently.
And no, I don't work for AA. I just happen to know one of the guys that was in the last new hire class.

Well, the most junior pilot on the property today would be a recently recalled ex TWA pilot hired at TWA in Feb, 2000 - seniority #9840. That hire date corresponds to an AA hire date of April, 2001.

In other words, AA is currently recalling a huge block of pilots with an April 2001 hire date. They should hit the bottom of the furlough list (Sept 2001 hire date) by the end of the year.

Then, approx 142 AE pilots flow through... then, AA goes back UP the list of pilots who have deferred, starting the 3 year clock... this is the point at which they can start new hires. Apps should start going out in January for a May/June new hire class.

That does stink, but we both know very few will accept it. 10 years is a long time to move on with your life and your career.

The clock starts when the most junior furloughee is offered recall. Deferrees then have three years to return/cancel their deferral.

Thanks, you're correct: clock starts when most Jr pilot gets recalled, and pilots have 3 years to un-defer. At the end of the 3 years, AA goes back up the list in reverse seniority order, at which point they either un-defer or resign. In the meantime, they start hiring off the street.

After that last guy gets recalled what happens if AA stops hiring/recalling at that point. Does the 3yr clock continue to run even though there are no newhire classes going?

Good question Flyby. I was unable to find the answer. Anybody? I believe the 3 year clock would stop until they started hiring again.
