Is it common (possible?) for jumpseaters to check extra bags with the counter?
The reason I ask: At the end of next month I've got 5 days off, and I'm planning a short trip to Brazil. I'm an LGA-MKE commuter. To make the travel a little more effecient, I'd like to leave MKE on my last day and get right into Brazil. I don't think I can fit a 4-day trip's worth of clothes plus Brazil clothes in one rollaboard. I may be able to pull it off, but I'm not sure yet. I'd probably need a "Work Bag" and a "Brazil Bag."
I'd like to carry-on my Work Bag and check the Brazil Bag with the counter before I go to the gate at LGA on my way to work. I can leave the Brazil Bag in MKE while I work my trip, then on the last day swap it with the Work Bag and leave that one in MKE while I'm in Brazil.
I don't want to waste time by flying back to NY to switch bags.
Think anyone will give me a hard time about it?

Leave LGA for MKE with both bags.
Leave Brazil Bag in MKE while I work.
After my 4-day trip, leave Work Bag in MKE and bring Brazil bag to Brazil.
My question is about getting both bags to MKE. Are people going to give me grief about checking a bag when I'm jumpseating? I can't exactly (or just don't want to!) stroll through the airport with two 22s, lol.
I could probably fit my Brazil stuff in a backpack, but we all know how we feel about Regional guys with backpacks!
BTW, I'm not sure why this posted in the Majors section... I meant for it to be in Hangar Talk.

I don't know what airline you'd be using for your commute but non-revs on CAL can check bags for free (at least for now). The other option is just suck it up and look like an idiot with two bags or a backpack and just carry-on/gate check the Brazil bag on the LGA-MKE flight.

I check bags from time to time when I jumpseat. One time I checked a recumbent that I had boxed up in a bike box. The box was about 7 feet long. I also carried my pilot bag on that same flight. It wasn't a problem and I wasn't charged for it.
