Southwest Commute out of Atlanta
Anyone out of Atlanta commuting for Southwest. On my way to get my type to make a run at Southwest, just wondering for QOL if it's feasible to stay in the suburbs of ATL or to suck it up and move the family. Obvious answer is to move but we have some roots planted. Appreciate any feedback. Fly Navy!

JUST KIDDING!!!!
Live where you want do live. It (commuting) will suck for a little while, while you're building up seniority in your seat. Good luck with the type rating!

CASS has made it a sort of level playing field for commuters. You should be able to live in Hotlanta and commute rather easily. That doesn't mean that you will like it, but it is do-able. Hopefully you don't also commute to your reserve assignment, because that would really blow. Good luck with your type rating.

I live in the ATL. Commuting to MDW or BWI is a no-brainer. About 20 flights a day to each between AirTran and DL. More flights to MCO but LOTS of commuters from AirTan and DL. HOU has about 12 flights or so. Bottom line, commuting sucks but if you have to do it, and my wife says I have to, it is pretty easy with proper planning.

It's been a while since the navy had phantom phlyers....the last ones were orange and were targets...just how long ago did you pilot that fine bird with the glide ratio of a set of car keys?

Qf-4
Correct me if I'm wrong, but some of the (Orange) QF-4's could be manned. However, these days I think most are on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. Is that right Phantomflier?

QF-4.....very good...someone's done their homework
That's right, I was one of the last QF-4 "navigators" out of Point Mugu, California, flying in the backseat of the drone F-4s, last flight at the end of 2000. I have several tail numbers in my flight log that are sitting in the bottom of the pacific thanks to some new air to air missiles. I feel very fortunate to having gotten that opportunity before chasing my flying dream, mach 1.8 at 50k, bring it on. Unfortunately, we lost a QF-4 during the PT Mugu airshow of 2002; pilot rode it into the dirt while the backseater ejected only to get torched by the flame of the impact. Shortly thereafter, the QF-4 ops out of Mugu were done. F-4 proved that if you put a big enough engine on a house, that it would probably fly too.
