JD, I hear and read that sentiment a lot. The actions of your management team demonstrate otherwise. So which is it? EVERY AirTran person would like to know.
Also, I get tired of being told to show up with a happy face and become a good employee. I already am a good employee. In spite of all the frustration on this side, AT continues to perform. SWA set records with the latest OTP numbers - 85% IIRC. AT's was 94%. Bag handling...SWA is not even close to AT. Don't forget about that #1 AQR rating we have too. So maybe instead of the condescending tone, you need to work a little harder and rise up to AT performance standards. C9 |

C9B,
Having just flown on AT on vacation (bought my tickets) I was very satisfied. We have a lot to learn from one another. Please don't try to say that everything you are doing is perfect, it is not! You can ask my wife. She personally hates our (SWA's) boarding system. Yours (assigned seats) has some advantages but don't think everything you are doing is all that. Your (ours) FA's were great on the return flight but not so great on the initial flight. My wife is all about first impressions and luckily I passed. So rising up to standards is a personal decision. As I said we have many things to learn from one another. The sooner we learn those things the better. The Oscar BTW, Given that one of the AT folks was late to intial IOE the other morning. Please try to be on time. Made the rest of you guys/gals look bad when the check airmen had to do the preflight and set up so they only pushed 3 late. I guess it doesn't matter since you are not on probation and it is pay back. Bottom line-----try to be professional or go somewhere else. |
No dog in this fight, but its pretty funny to watch the almighty Southwesties talk down to the Airtrainies.

And for the record I would have MUCH preferred that DLA brought us instead, and I can't emphasize the word MUCH enough.
By DLA I can only surmise that you meant DAL. I can only dream that they had bought you guys and they would have to deal with your sense of entitlement. Oh please, oh please............. Perhaps there is still a chance if the 717 rumors are true. One can only hope. The Oscar |

Damn, hate having to go back on my posts. Well Oscar, I can't agree with you more....on both points made. Good post bud!
BTW, I certainly don't believe that even 95% of your pilot group will be difficult to fly with. Even the Whaaamaster might trick me into buying a cold one. I will probably be happy to do so. Fool me once perhaps, but you will NEVER get a second chance because I was blessed (or cursed) with a memory that ............. The Oscar |

Just identify yourself as a SWA Captain and what it was. Thanks |

Whoa, nice attitude there. There's that legendary Southwest culture for ya.
You apparently have not been listening! Our culture/attitude is dead. I am ready for the beatings to begin and then the attitude might change. The Oscar |

Thanks It is really not about the $ for me or I would have chased the $ and wound up being furloughed with my contemporaries. Many of those now claim that I am not worthy to be next to them if we by chance merged. I would have to consider myself fortunate to be a senior 737 captain. Luck has quite a lot do do with this industry so if anyone with a seniority number with SWA (or anyone else) wishes to roll the dice............. The Oscar 265 |
