WRT to your comment about the only SWA pilots that haven't been Cptns being AirTran F/Os, that is completely incorrect. Our hiring standards were 500 hrs. Part 121 PIC or military equivelent because of our fairly quick upgrade time.

Yeah, I'm sure a "real" SWA pilot has never been late for IOE.

Actually, I have NEVER heard of ANY new hire being late for their initial IOE. Everyone has been late or no showed (I have) but without any probationary period who cares? My mission in life was to stay off the skyline. Mostly I mention this incident so that other AT folks coming on property don't place themselves on the skyline from day one.

Was the guy late for SWA IOE after transitioning from AAI? Just curious.

JD,

I'd be willing to bet that more than 50% of current AT FO's have more turbine PIC than you did when you were placed in the SWA pool. Your holier-than-thou persona is revolting and your scattergun attempt at characterizing and stereotyping 1735 INDIVIDUALS is contributing to even more divisiveness. You talk like management but you're merely fresh off probation, so just zip it,

Of course not, because no one would bother to spread that rumor. But one AirTran guy does the slightest thing wrong, and guys like you are frothing at the mouth ready to hang him. The arrogance from some of you guys is really without parallel.

C9B,

Having just flown on AT on vacation (bought my tickets) I was very satisfied. We have a lot to learn from one another. Please don't try to say that everything you are doing is perfect, it is not! You can ask my wife. She personally hates our (SWA's) boarding system. Yours (assigned seats) has some advantages but don't think everything you are doing is all that.

Your (ours) FA's were great on the return flight but not so great on the initial flight. My wife is all about first impressions and luckily I passed. So rising up to standards is a personal decision. As I said we have many things to learn from one another. The sooner we learn those things the better.

I'm glad it was a good ride. I know our excrement has some odor to it and so does yours. Both sides have areas they can improve.

I guess it doesn't matter since you are not on probation and it is pay back.

Now why did you have to go there...one individual does not reflect the entire AT pilot group. (What were those OTP numbers again???) Was it a bone head move? ABSOLUTELY. If you and your compadres believe it was on purpose then go after him. If you are just being prejudicial, then I suggest you back to team building class. Based on your words, I take it that you are a supporter of AT pilots being on probation. YGTBSM

Bottom line...be professional or go somewhere else.

There you go again...AT pilots are conducting themselves professionally. Our record proves this. Again, statements like that just make SWA guys look arrogant and open the chasm between our groups even more. Those thoughts are better left be left unsaid.

Who was the guy/gal you were giving OE to? Was is a former AT 73N captain who you were going to now teach how to be a 737 FO? Not trying to start stuff. Just wondering if it might not be an (possibly understandable) attitude problem.

In fact, quite the opposite. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

And that has been the nemesis of quite a few airlines. They continued to do what they had always done when they needed to completely change what they were doing, like Braniff, Eastern, etc....

Well Oscar, according to JDFyler some of us are apparently already on the skyline before we even get to SWA training. Isn't that right, JD? Why don't you tell us about "The List" that's been floating around for a while now.

Just for the enlightenment of our viewing audience, perhaps they'd get an even better sense of the SW pilot "holier than thou" attitude if they knew that SWAPA actually threw across the table at one point in negotiations the concept of having all AirTran pilots be on probation after they transitioned over. Apparently it was quickly squashed by our negotiators.
