No, if you can hold another plane and not be on reserve, then do it. Some people go for the biggest plane they can and then complain on reserve. I prefer a better QOL, hence senior MD88 Fo. With new planes coming and retirements eventually, I can see why that AVL+15 might be needed, there will be a lot of movement and people in training for awhile.
If we have a lot of retirements on the horizon and therefore a lot of training on the horizon, make the company staff accordingly. Don't accommodate their ability to abuse reserves. If they can't cover the flying make them offer more green slips. Bottom line, staffing provides the quality of life that you obviously prefer.
The idea that reserve is a temporary assignment and should therefore be thrown under the bus is rather disgusting.

Maybe if they can negotiate something that doesnt require the term like "package deal" like sailing explained, then we may be more susceptible to see if it is actually an improvement.
What happened to negotiate in simpler terms... only 5 SC a month allowed, the 6th and 7th is by pilot consent only, with extra coins above guarantee. Now, i can tell it is an improvement even a caveman can understand.

I had a thought today that the new bucket system on reserve was a way to cushion the senior people from this ALV+15 thing that has been in the works and make it more palatable.
