My scenario is not an extreme what if. We are already overstaffed. Then we want to make ourselves more efficient, allow reserves to fly more, and hope we get early outs to go with it. I suppose I can receive some ease from the furlough clauses though.

No they aren't. they are target fixated on one... single... item... And nothing else. If they were looking long term they would realize that this is a slam dunk yes vote.. especially for the bottom of the list.. Every single guy that I have talked to that is around my seniority or above says pretty much the same thing. "This contract does little for the upper part of the list, but is a no brainer great deal for the bottom.." Every... single... one.
I look for loopholes too. And I have looked very very hard at section 1. I don't see that which isn't there.
And I apologize if my posts come across as condescending.

You are pretty much always condescending. (and a few others as well.)
As professionals, seems like we could agree to dis-agree without denigrating our fellow professionals.
For me, this is a "slam dunk" no... and for many reasons, which I have stated previously.
Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't make their opinions less valid.
Also, we must not talk with the same people. I'm at 24yrs and almost every pilot I have spoken with thinks this is a "no-brainer" no.
Go figure.

Fair enough.
I still do not intend to be condescending.
Just out of curiosity though, what percentage pay increase will you think is acceptable in another 2 years? or 3? remember what it is that we will be saying no to.. now. No fight or fear mongering.. either one believes in TVM or not. DYODD.

Im not approaching my decision from a position of fear. I'm approaching it from a logical position and from sound judgement. I'm not playing any games. If you're willing to gamble away $100,000 then I guess you are financially in a position that I would guess is better than most. To me the logical thing to do is to take the money then ask for more, not turn down money and ask for more. That makes zero sense to me from every angle you could possibly look at it.

So just to add to the conversation, after talking to the union guys in the ATL today they still don't think there will be any hiring before late next year. So how exactly are we to staff all these incoming 717's and 737's?
Some of you guys need to admit that there are definately work rule concessions at work here. Not to mention the 100+ manadatory retirements in that same time frame.
Kind of odd that we still need to ask for early outs to offset this great deal isn't it.....so puzzling.
