So just to add to the conversation, after talking to the union guys in the ATL today they still don't think there will be any hiring before late next year. So how exactly are we to staff all these incoming 717's and 737's?
Some of you guys need to admit that there are definately work rule concessions at work here. Not to mention the 100+ manadatory retirements in that same time frame.
Kind of odd that we still need to ask for early outs to offset this great deal isn't it.....so puzzling.

Let me help you. The reason there will be no hiring for a while is there is a pilot group, at the regionals, that will be brought over and placed under the Delta name. This group will fly the 700/900 and trained on the 717. This will solve all scope problems. There is only one reason for management to have a fast TA. They have a bigger plan in mind. Notice how the Thinking outside the box is grand. Also you have to ask why does Skywest Holdings, INC.,Who own Skywest and Expressjet, now have a 1 to 2 Billion dollar credit line for aircraft purchases?

The last of the early outs doesn't have to leave until June 30, 2013.
So that's how we'll staff the new a/c. If the economy doesn't tank and management ups the block hours we could see hiring sooner than that. If the economy tanks, you won't need them sooner than that.
It's got nothing to do with "concessions".

Talking in the crashpad last night and one of the ER Captains (97 or so hire) looks at me and says you're 4. After the deer in the headlights look, he went on to say "If the 4 in the 4/8.5/3/3 were a 10 or even an 8.5, you'd be for the contract"
After a little bit of reflection, I realized he may have a point. Now I know all about wishing won't make it so, but it got me thinking.
If they magically waived a wand and changed the DOS raise (without more concessions) would your vote change? Discuss amongst yourselves.

A "TDY 10" is a 4 that brings her own sixpack.
We are a TDY 10.
