Some of you guys need to admit that there are definately work rule concessions at work here. Not to mention the 100+ manadatory retirements in that same time frame.
Kind of odd that we still need to ask for early outs to offset this great deal isn't it.....so puzzling.
But that can't be... I mean we are getting a better contract with this TA right? I thought the saying was "work smarter not harder" instead this TA will have us "work harder not smarter."
...Confused

Let me help you. The reason there will be no hiring for a while is there is a pilot group, at the regionals, that will be brought over and placed under the Delta name. This group will fly the 700/900 and trained on the 717. This will solve all scope problems. There is only one reason for management to have a fast TA. They have a bigger plan in mind. Notice how the Thinking outside the box is grand. Also you have to ask why does Skywest Holdings, INC.,Who own Skywest and Expressjet, now have a 1 to 2 Billion dollar credit line for aircraft purchases?

The 717's don't begin delivery until the 2nd half of next year. The 737's (on which we have pilots already trained) don't get delivered until August of next year. We generally don't train very much in the summer, as more of the IP's are flying the line. The only category that will be "tight" is planned to be the MD88/90, and that's due to 25 new deliveries coming (not all next year). The 17 remaining DC-9's will be phased out during that transition.

The last of the early outs doesn't have to leave until June 30, 2013.

So that's how we'll staff the new a/c. If the economy doesn't tank and management ups the block hours we could see hiring sooner than that. If the economy tanks, you won't need them sooner than that.

It's got nothing to do with "concessions".

If they magically waived a wand and changed the DOS raise (without more concessions) would your vote change? Discuss amongst yourselves.
You know what a TDY 10 is right?

A "TDY 10" is a 4 that brings her own sixpack.

We are a TDY 10.

That's good Scambo, obviously we disagree on the TA but I do appreciate humor.

Disagreements are good for the end product. I support a dissenting view. Many times I will argue a position mearely to have the other side better vet their product.
