According to a jumpseater, Compass' training department has been told to expect to lose 100 pilots to Delta in early 2013. Given that they must comprise 20% of new hire classes, that equals 500+ Delta hires around the first of the year.

not exactly.

The first 20 new hires every month must be compass up, to 25% of the compass list in a rolling 12 months.

Examples

If they only run 1 class every month for 5 months they would be all compass. total 100

2 classes of 20 every month for 5 months then the first 20 every month would be compass the next 20 off the street.
total 200.

 Is that interview or actual hire? Not every person interviewed gets hired. I'd be surprised if DL hired more than 50% of those interviewed. So the first interview class will be 40 Compass pilots?

RiddleEagle18 06-22-2012 12:40 PM

No its a flow through. No interview. Straight to class. These guys interviewed at compass with a NWA pilot on the hiring board. There are only about 400 pilots left with these privileges. After that its just preferential interviews.

I love how the delta guys always freak out when they find this out. What do you mean no interview? They just get hired? Somehow these pilots aren't worthy of flying these customers at delta but its all good at delta connection.

Spirit has 4 per month through August, 16 per month for September through the remainder of the year. The expectation is 10-16 per month into next year as well.

FedEx is hiring 16-20/month with no plans to let up.

Northwest. They had this crazy idea one upon a time to bring their regional feed in-house. The idea of making them part of the list fell through, but the language about them having passed a Northwest airlines interview and having been hired at Northwest stuck. I was dead sure that deal would go away along with the red tails, but Delta kept it for the folks already on property. Must have been satisfied with NWA's vetting process. Or something, I dunno.

My classmate at Airline X ended up as one of The Anointed Ones over at Compass after the furlough. He had >3000 hours LHS on turboprops when I met him. Compass wasn't exactly slumming when they hired a lot of those pilots. Lots of former Indy Air, Champion, etc. Hell of a deal those guys are getting, but more often than not (from what I've seen), they've earned it.

This is coming. If Delta puts its name on the ticket, on the aircraft, etc, it is a DELTA flight...Delta vouches for the inflight service, the quality of maintenance, and the safety/quality of the pilots. This cr@p of Delta Mainline being better somehow than a Delta DCI is nonsense. It is absurd to differentiate...if you are REALLY interested in recouping scope, get your lawyers to pursue making Delta financially and legally culpable for ANY shortcomings in a DCI carrier, to the same standards as Mainline. Make the Mainline pay the price, if they put their logo on the flight. TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY! Sam
