DAL Jumpseat International Rules

What is Delta's policy of taking Jumpseaters Internationally? I am looking to go from NRT to GUM and it appears to have several seats open.

I don't think off liners can do it as we have to reserve it in advance so as to be on the gendec. At least that's how I understand it.

Hmm I hope someone with more info chimes in because I don't think that's correct. To my knowledge off line jumpseaters are welcome to a seat in the back. I'd bring a ZED as a backup if it were me though.

I know I had a non-Delta (Cathay Pacific) jumpseater out of Hong Kong up to Narita last month, no problems, not on our gen dec either. He was in uniform, and he sat in an empty seat in back. You may want to contact your Jumpseat rep. and ask him to ask the DL jumpseat guy if there are any issues getting out of NRT.

You can always flow to the back.

I went though the FOM and the only requirement was to check in 75 minutes prior to departure, and for DAL employees to have a reservation. It did state that OAL's cannot make reservations.

It did not specify a cabin versus a cockpit jumpseat.

Cockpit JS still not allowed on international flights. Cabin okay.

Are you saying that expats working for foreign carriers are able to jump seat?

That's what I meant. Sorry for the angst.

From our JS guys.

The problem with cockpit JSers on INT'l flights is they are approved but it requires a IT upgrade to the company software. This is the case for many airlines, and all have not done the software upgrade.

If the OAL airline is listed in the FOM they can JS international but must sit in the back.

We do not have an agreement with them. He should not have been allowed on the plane without a ticket. The list I just checked was updated July 3, 2012.
