Well. What I'm saying is, the Tri-motor pilots, of the time when the quote was taken, were packing their own lunch as well. Things changed for a while (50's, 60's 70's 80's, 90's), but then they changed back.

Good one !!! any contestant in the on going struggle of lift and thrust overcoming weight and drag that is going on in every clime and place, at each and every hour of the day and night, can not nor ever be construed as a bus driver, such comments are driven by ignorance or envy, whether it be of tube and fabric construction or the cutting edge of technology there is something wonderful and alive at the core of every airchine !!!

Well that's not entirely true. One in a thousand or so will be needed to continue teaching that stuff and besides, anyone can use even a worthless degree to become an airline pilot at a company that requires a degree.

Beat me to it. I used to argue with folks along these lines and I told them, bottom line, for most non-professional jobs ("profession" being the key word), I can read a manual and do that job in a couple of days, you CANNOT read a manual and do my job.
